Willie Louis Heard

Mr. Willie Louis "Boss Hog" Heard was born on January 18, 1953, in Talladega, Alabama, to the loving union of Howard Heard, Sr. and Nelsie Mae Embry Heard. From the very beginning, Willie was surrounded by a large and loving family, and throughout his life he shared that same love with everyone he encountered. At an early age, Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Holy Hill Church of God in Lincoln, Alabama, where he began his walk of faith. He received his education through the Talladega County School System and was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School. After graduation, Willie entered the workforce, holding various jobs before relocating to Columbus, Ohio, in search of greater opportunities. There he found his passion in the culinary industry and was employed by Kroger Deli Department, where he worked as a chef for many years until his retirement. Following retirement, he returned to Jacksonville, Alabama, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends while reaping the rewards of a life filled with hard work and dedication. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Boss Hog," Willie was a man whose heart was devoted to his family. He was the patriarch of his family, always encouraging togetherness and making every effort to attend family gatherings. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to every occasion. As one of sixteen siblings, he cherished the bond they shared and believed family was life's greatest blessing. Willie had a passion for the outdoors, especially fishing. He could often be found sitting peacefully along the riverbank with his rod and reel, enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the water while waiting for that "big catch." Whether casting a line or simply taking a refreshing swim, those moments brought him great joy. He also loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to hit the open road to visit family and friends. Wherever Willie went, he brought his culinary talents with him. Whether preparing a hearty meal or baking one of his delicious specialties, he expressed his love through food and fellowship. His generosity, caring spirit, and unforgettable smile left lasting impressions on everyone blessed to know him. On Saturday morning, July 25, 2026, while surrounded by the love of his devoted family at Regional Medical Center, Mr. Willie Louis "Boss Hog" Heard peacefully transitioned from labor to eternal rest. He was welcomed into the Heavenly realm by his loving parents, Howard Heard, Sr. and Nelsie Mae Embry Heard; his brothers, Howard Heard, Jr., Johnnie Reed, Gene Heard, and Charlie Heard; and his sisters, Maxine Carmichael, Brenda Collins, Evelyn Smith, and Mattie Carmichael. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, laughter, family unity, and unforgettable memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Mr. Heard leaves to cherish his precious memories: his beloved children, Stanley Heard, Rory (Tasha) Heard, Natassia Johnson, and Lanesia Johnson; his brothers, Tim (Sharon) Heard and Willette Heard; his sisters, Debra Smith, Edna (Grover) Guilford, Minnie Thornton, Betty Heard, and Bobbie Heard; his cherished grandchildren, Rodriguez Heard, Rori Heard, Tarodji Heard, Indeia Heard, London Heard, Skylar Heard, Kiara Nelson, Dayiell Johnson, NaToya (Gary) Curry, Jna'Jee Gooden, Darius Gooden, and Jalisa Johnson; his special friends, Kenneth Forrestand Ann Pointer; his special nieces, Linda Thomas and Shirley Walker; his brother-in-law, Robert Smith; his sister-in-law, Earlie Reed; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends. His life was a testament to the importance of faith, family, hard work, and love. Though he has departed this earthly life, the memories he created and the lives he touched will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. "His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."
