William E Patterson

Mr. William E. Patterson, a dedicated family man, was born to the union of Henry Patterson and Oleta Patterson in Anniston, Alabama on September 17, 1950. Mr. Patterson, affectionately known as Bill, accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while he was attending Seventeenth Street Baptist Church where he was baptized. Allowing God to lead him, he later united with Nation Harvest Church. A man of faith, William's love for the Lord was evident in all aspects of his life. He received his formal education in the Anniston City School System and graduated from Cobb High School with the class of 1969. Once completing his education, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served until he was medically discharged. He returned home to Anniston and pursued a successful career with the federal government at Fort McClellan, working diligently in the motor pool. Upon returning to Anniston, Bill met the love of his life, the former Lena Smith. On August 3, 1979, William and Lena were united in holy matrimony, embarking on a journey filled with love and companionship. This union was blessed with four beautiful children. He enjoyed spending time with his family watching westerns and cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. Throughout his life, William's unwavering faith in the Lord served as a guiding light, shaping his character and values. He was a pillar of strength, a source of encouragement, and a beacon of love to all who had the privilege of knowing him. William was a great cook and was known for his skills in the kitchen. While he may not have enjoyed being in the kitchen himself, William found joy in supervising and guiding others with his culinary expertise. On Friday, November 15, 2024, the Lord released Mr. William E. Patterson from all pain and called him home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and two brothers. Mr. Patterson's precious memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife, Lena Patterson; three sons, William J. Patterson, George E. Patterson, and Brandon Roberts; three daughters, Tafiny Patterson, Cassandra (Don) Hurth, Aldra Brazier; a brother, James E. Patterson; three sisters, Francis Founchious, Sadie Wright, and Ella Daniels; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Though he may have left this earthly realm, William's spirit of love, faith, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
