Willard Pottard, Jr

Willard "Pot Rat" Pottard, Jr. blessed this world with his presence on December 29,1954 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Sr. and Annie Pottard of Anniston, AL. Willard was raised in Oxford, AL. Willard Pottard Jr. (Willard) was educated at Calhoun County Trade School and graduated from Oxford High School. He joined the United States Army after graduation and served 10 years. The military offered him great experiences in life with travel being the best one. He travelled extensively throughout Georgia and New Jersey. By the Grace of God, he completed a 3 year tour in Vicenza, Italy. After time served in the military, Willard returned home to Anniston to start a new chapter in his life. He found great joy in watching movies, fishing, and listening to music. He also was a great dancer. Two years after his return from service and while working in Carrollton, GA, Willard met a very trusting and loving partner, Sylvia Hardaway of Moreland, GA. The couple developed a friendship that led to a lifelong bond. Together their union created three wonderful children; Sylvante, Delanor and Yancy. Willard and Sylvia remained in each other's lives until the very end, sharing many wonderful memories of fun, laughter and love with their children and grandchildren. A well-devoted father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, Willard received his Master's Call on January 30, 2023, at Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA. Whether there were opportunities or challenges in his life, his attitude was always consistently positive with a smile and a light heart. He had a cheerful personality...always making people around him laugh. He truly loved his family. Willard lived his life to the fullest. Family and friends genuinely will miss him and forever honor and cherish his memories. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted children, Sylvante (Julius) Caesar, Delanor (Cassie) Pottard, and Yancy Pottard; grandchildren, Decorey, Kody, and Autumn; Brothers, William Pottard, John H. (Phillip) Pottard and Domonique Sims; and Sister, Debra A. Pottard. Also cherishing his memories are a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving partner, Sylvia Hardaway; father, Willard Pottard, Sr. and mother, Annie Pottard; Paternal grandparents, Willard Pottard and Willie Mae Magsby; maternal grandparents, Yancy Hawkins and Stella Hawkins and his brother, Lawrence Pottard and niece Shevicka Pottard.
