Willard Garrett

Mr. Willard Garrett was born to the union of Leamon Garrett, Sr. and Mary M. Swain-Garrett in Talladega, Alabama on July 11, 1960. As a youth, Mr. Garrett accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama. He received his formal education in the Talladega County School System. While attending Talladega County Training School, Mr. Garrett served as a school bus driver. Mr. Garrett's next path in life was starting his career in the construction industry as a carpenter. Along Mr. Garrett's path in life, his journey soon led him to find and fall in love with his soulmate, the former Ms. Hattie Perkins. They were later united in holy matrimony on April 11, 1986 and together they formed a happy family with a blessed marriage and three loving children. Mr. Garrett was a fun-loving and kind-hearted person. He enjoyed lengthy conversations and was happy to joke around with anyone who would have it. He was also an avid outdoorsman that loved spending time on the riverbanks fishing. On the morning of Wednesday, April 12, 2023, after God had graciously given Willard Garrett to us for sixty-two long earthly years, he beckoned for him to peacefully accept his angelic wings as he entered his new eternal home joining his parents, Leamon Garrett Sr. and Mary Garrett, two brothers, Roland Garrett and Leamon Garrett, Jr. and one sister, Felecia Garrett. Mr. Garrett's 62-year life journey has truly been a blessing to everyone he has encountered beginning with his youth. Leaving behind to cherish the many years of Mr. Garrett's loving memories are his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Hattie Garrett; two daughters, Seleana (Terry) Threatt and Sheila (Kevin) Thompson; son, Willard Perkins; and two grandchildren, Dallas Thompson and Layla Threatt; two brothers, Jesse (Linda) Garrett and Marcus (Sheila) Garrett; one sister, Brenda Garrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Although a pillar of the community has gone before us, Mr. Garrett has left a legacy behind, and he will truly be missed by all the lives he has touched.
