Willa E. Truss

Ms. Willa Elizabeth Truss, age 61, of Talladega, Alabama was born November 12, 1961, to the late Cleveland and Velma Lee Gaston Truss. Ms. Truss accepted Christ at an early age and united with Rushing Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Truss received her formal education in the Talladega City School System, where she attended Talladega High School. Ms. Truss enjoyed caring for her family and being a devoted mother and grandmother. Her commitment and dedication to her family, friends, and community was vividly illustrated over the years while being known as the neighborhood mother and the aunt to everyone. Spending quality time with family and going out to dinner were elemental to Ms. Truss, but she was living her best life traveling as a proud mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother making lasting memories with the joys of her life. She always loved going to the mountains and taking cruises with her family or any friends that mentioned let's go make memories. Ms. Truss was a true matriarch and the heart of her family. She loved to laugh and smile, and she genuinely brought joy to others around her. She looked forward to celebrating with those who appreciated and loved her most and would go to war any day about her children, Walmetric and C.J. Her children were always her priority, no matter what. When it came to cooking, the "Mother of the Neighborhood" could put together a meal that would have you coming back for more. Her sweet and kind spirit will be missed immensely by all the hearts she has touched and lives she has encountered. Ms. Willa Elizabeth Truss completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love on Sunday, June 18, 2023, while under the care of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by loved ones. Upon gaining her heavenly wings, Ms. Truss was reunited with her beloved parents, Cleveland and Velma Truss, sisters, Icey Henningburg and Burnetha Garrett, and goddaughter, Marcia Spidell. Ms. Truss will remain in the hearts and loving memories of her two loving and caring sons, Walmetric Whitson and Cleveland Whitson; three brothers, Clement Truss, Duryea (Ralphine) Truss, and Aubre Truss; three sisters, Patricia Truss, Anna (Howard) Garrett, and Carolyn Truss; six grandchildren, Myanna Kelly, Amari Pointer, Amelia Whitson, Jada Whitson, Chelsea Whitson, and Jayden Williams; godchildren, Regina Ragland, Leslie Ragland, and Tracy James; special niece, Alicia Truss; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Ms. Willa Elizabeth Truss will always be remembered for her love of family and others, sense of humor, loyalty, and genuinely kind heart.
