Mrs. Vickie Bretten

On May 26, 1969, in Anniston, Alabama, Ms. Vickie Bretten began her 54-year earthly journey when she was welcomed to the world by her beloved parents Freddie and Annie Ruth Jones Bretten. Ms. Bretten committed her life to Christ at an early age and united with Greater Thankful Missionary Baptist Church where she once served as the church musician, sang in the choir, and was a member of the nurse's guild. She received her formal education in the Calhoun County School System and was a 1987 graduate of Wellborn High School. Once completing school, Ms. Bretten enrolled at Gadsden State Community College and later earned a degree as a medical lab tech. Upon earning her degree, she joined the workforce and began utilizing her skills as a medical lab technician with Regional Medical Center for many years. Because of her love for traveling, Ms. Bretten later became a traveling medical lab technician and at the time of her passing she was employed with AMN Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia. As Ms. Bretten traveled her 54-year blessed earthly journey, she became the proud and loving mother of two beautiful daughters, Jaleesa and Alyssa. She loved her children with all her heart. There was nothing she enjoyed better than caring for her grandchildren and taking care of her family. Whenever you saw Ms. Bretten, she greeted you with a beautiful smile. If you knew her, you knew she was the most lovable person, always full of life, acting silly, and full of enthusiasm. She had the sweetest spirit one could imagine. Ms. Bretten loved trying new foods and restaurants. Traveling was definitely a joy to Ms. Bretten, as she loved traveling, whether it was with her family or her job. When it came to TikTok, she was the Master of It. She enjoyed watching basketball and football and would let you know she was a Roll Tide fan; but she was the biggest basketball fan of her grandson Ashton. She found great joy in supporting and watching him run the courts and shoot the hoops at his basketball games. Ms. Bretten is truly going to be missed by not only her family, but all the lives she has touched in some way while on this journey. On the night of Tuesday, June 13, 2023, after 54 blessed years on this earthly journey, Ms. Bretten accepted her heavenly wings while in the comfort of her home in Duluth, Georgia. Preceding her in death were her parents, Freddie and Annie Bretten, granddaughter, Neveah Johnson, two brothers, John Bretten and Roosevelt Jones, and one sister, Jelene Rives. She leaves to cherish an everlasting legacy of love and memories, two daughters, Jaleesa Watkins and Alyssa Watkins; two grandchildren, Ashton Curry and Mason Curry; three brothers, Robert (Jackie) Rives, Freddie Bretten, and Randy Bretten; one sister, Dorothy Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
