Veronica Virginia Hill

Mother Veronica Virginia Hill was born on October 13, 1947, to the late Apostle Perry Thomas and Rosetta Looney Thomas in Ragland, Alabama. She was educated in the St. Clair County school system, where she was a graduate of St. Clair County Training School and continued her education at the Atlanta Business Institute in Atlanta Ga. Mother Veronica was united in Holy Matrimony to Connally Hill, the love of her life, on August 11, 1967, and remained in holy covenant for 25 years until his passing on April 15, 1992. To this union, two children were born. Mother Veronica received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at the young age of nine years old and became a member of The Bible Way Church in Ragland, Alabama as well as served at The Holy Hill Church in Lincoln, Alabama in her early years. She later became a member at The Refuge Church in Talladega, Alabama where she loved working with the youth. In 1986, she and Connally established the Refuge II Church Family, as they loved to call it. Mother Veronica served in many capacities, including Women's Sunday School Teacher, Missionary President, Administrative Treasurer, and Choir President, but where she most loved serving was as an altar worker. Many often teased that "if you didn't want the Holy Ghost then you'd better not have Mother Hill tarry with you because she's going to tarry until you get it!" Mother Veronica will be remembered for her tambourine playing, walking the floor praying, and fiery songs of praise that she'd sing, as well as her Words of Wisdom and Encouragement that she'd often share most peacefully and lovingly, no matter whether you were young or old. She was also known for sitting with you at the hospital. She'd often pack her bag and sit and pray over you through your hospital nights. On December 22, 2025, Mother Veronica answered the Master's Call. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Rosetta Thomas and six siblings: Sherman Thomas, Lillian Dunlap, Dorothy Green, Marva Fears, Edward Thomas, and Sallie Brown. Mother Veronica leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Connally (Brenda) Hill of Oxford Alabama, one daughter, Stephanie (Emege) Nchege of Johns Creek Georgia; two grandsons, Chetachi Kalu Nchege and Onyeka Connally Nchege of Johns Creek Georgia; three bonus grandsons, Ahmahrd (Natalie) Coleman of Atlanta Georgia, Andrey Withers of Oxford Alabama, and Brandon Withers of Colorado Springs Colorado; two sister-in-loves, Gwendolyn Johnson of Lincoln Alabama and Daphne Edwards of Montgomery Alabama, one brother-in-love, Abraham Brown of Richfield Ohio; two God brothers, Curlandrew (Genora) White of Detroit Michigan and Carnel Davis of Houston Texas; one God son, Bradrick Files of Anniston Alabama; two God daughters, Carolyn Files of Weaver Alabama and Marivia Smith of Orlando Florida and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved fiercely as well as her Refuge II Church family, other family, and friends.
