Vera Smith

Born on May 18, 1950, in Talladega, Alabama, Mrs. Vera Morris Smith graced this earth, as the loving daughter of Jim Morris and Mirandia Twymon Morris. A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Smith found comfort and community at Moon Street Church of God in her youth before answering a higher calling in her later years as an ordained minister at Faith Deliverance Church. Mrs. Smith dedicated her working life to serving others, diligently serving as a custodian within the Talladega County School System, a role from which she eventually retired. She received her education in the Talladega City School system and was a graduate of Westside High School Class of 1969. Beyond her professional pursuits, Mrs. Smith enjoyed the gentle arts of sewing and crocheting, finding joy in creating beauty with her hands. An avid enthusiast of "Country Living" on youtube, she found peace and relaxation in the simple pleasures of life. Yet, it was her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless kindness that truly defined her essence. Mrs. Smith was a beacon of light, spreading joy and warmth to all fortunate enough to cross her path. Mrs. Vera Smith completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love on Monday evening, November 18, 2024, when she was called home to a place of eternal peace while under the compassionate care of St. Vincent's Hospital in Pell City, Alabama, surrounded by her cherished family. As she journeyed from this world to the next, she was welcomed into the embrace of her heavenly family, including her loving parents, Jim and Mirandia Morris, brothers, William Morris, John L. Morris, Robert Morris, and Jimmy Lee Morris, and sister, Earline Lawler. Ms. Smith's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she held most dear: her husband, Raymond Smith; two dedicated and devoted daughters, LaToya Smith and Chundranea Morris; grandchildren, Hydea Swain and Kendall Orr; brothers, Matthew (Eula) Morris and Eddie B. Morris; sisters, Martha Jones, Ollie Hill, Dorothy (Ben) Pope, and Beulah Lawler; alongside countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her radiant spirit. As we gather to honor and celebrate Mrs. Smith's exceptional life, we pay respect to a woman whose legacy of love, humor, loyalty, and kindness will endure through the histories of time. In these moments of touching reflection, we remember and cherish the profound impact she had on each of us. May she rest in eternal peace, forever remembered, forever celebrated.
