Troy Berry, Jr.

Troy Berry, Jr., affectionately known as "Man", was born on October 28, 1955, to Troy Berry, Sr. and Helen Howard Berry in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later made Anniston his home. Troy received his education in the Tulsa Public School System where he received his high school diploma. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly for over seven years. Troy accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and united with Seventeenth Street Baptist Church in 1980 under the leadership of Rev. N. Q. Reynolds where he remained a faithful member until his health began to fail. On March 31, 1980, Troy married his soulmate, Rosie, creating a bond that lasted a lifetime. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and companionship and supported each other through thick and thin. He loved his family and would do anything for his children and grandchildren. Troy found pleasure in the simple things of life like riding around town while listening to his favorite music, cooking on the grill, watching his favorite Oklahoma football team, and spending time with his family. On Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, Troy answered the master's call and entered eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Troy Berry, Sr., father-in-law, David Mims; mother-in-law, Legusta Mims; and sister-in-law, Leola Godhigh. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and faithful wife, Rosie Berry; daughters, Paula Cole of Tulsa, Ok and Carolyn Mims of Anniston, AL; son, Michael Mims of Anniston, AL; grandchildren, Quinekua (Rico) Garcia of Houston, TX, Quaundra Mims, Octavia Simmons and Shanika Reed all of Anniston, AL; cousins, Robert Woodard, Delberta Woodard, Joyce Howard, and Debra Todd, all of Tulsa, OK, Trasme Todd of San Diego, CA, Donald Washington of Los Angeles, CA, and Ralph King of Missouri; brothers-in-law, David Mims, Percy Godhigh, and Charlie Shurgas; Sisters-in-law, Patricia Mims, Loretta Jenkins, Shirley Shurgas, and Linda Mims; best friends, Michael Howard of Missouri and Brenda Carter of Tulsa, OK; and a host of other family members, church family, and friends. As we come together to remember and celebrate the life of Troy "Man" Berry, Jr., let us reflect on the joy, warmth, and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him.
