Tommy Lynn Wright

On May 29, 1954 in Talladega, Alabama, God entrusted to Rosie E. Wright Curry and the late Obie Chatman a son given the name Tommy Lynn Wright, who came to be known by family and friends as "Lynn". At a young age, Lynn accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He received his formal education while attending Talladega High School. Lynn later joined the workforce and became a supervisor with Wehadkee Yarn Mills. After over 30 years of dedicated employment, he retired and began to enjoy the fruits of his labor while spending more quality time with his family. As Lynn traveled this 68-year, along the path he met his beautiful soulmate, the former Ms. Elizabeth Williams. After being determinant that this was the woman God has chosen for him to spend his life with, Lynn and Elizabeth were united in Holy Matrimony sharing over 50 years of marital blissfulness; and to this union came the blessing of four loving daughters, Violet, Rena, LaTesha, and Sherlyn. Nothing came before his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These were his prize possessions along with "Pork Chop" his best friend. It has been said that a dog is man's best friend, and this was exactly how Lynn saw "Pork Chop". In his spare time, he loved working on cars and during football season, he was a known avid "Alabama Crimson Tide" fan. Lynn's love for his family and friends will be missed immensely in the days ahead, but we all know, "Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal". On Thursday, April 6, 2023, while under the care of Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, Tommy Lynn Wright peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home reuniting with his father, Obie Chatman, his inherited dad, Mr. Thomas J. Curry, and grandmother, Jeannie Mae Staples. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: a devoted wife of over 50 years, Mrs. Elizabeth Wright; four daughters, Violet Curry Gresham, Rena (Undrae) Swain, LaTesha (Nick) King, and Sherlyn Wright; loving mother, MRs. Rosie E. Curry; three brothers, Kenneth Curry, Stanley Curry, and Obie Chatman, Jr.; ten sisters, Mary Gail Curry, Brenda Wright (Monty) Coleman, Willie Mae Smoot Windham, Diana (Dennis) Parker, Cheryl Sanders, Obielette Davis, Contrilla Chapman, Gloveto Chapman, Cynthia (George) Wright, and Seaman Latrenda Chapman; twenty-one grandchildren, Stephanie Wright, Tkeyha Wright, TaDarius Wright, Delveccehius Wright, NaKyria Wright, Dennis Swain, Jr., Tynedria Wright, Jaylah King, Xavier Calhoun, Andrea Swain, Lavender Calhoun, Jakendrick Tuck, Takendria Tuck, Kiandria Tuck, Lakedrick Tuck, Tabetha Gresham, Jamika Tabor, Louis Tabor, Ralph Gilbert, Jequerius Wilson, and Quadarius Cochran; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
