Terry Johnson

Terry David Johnson began his earthly journey on October 15, 1960, in Gary, Indiana where he was born to Ruthie Monroe. He was raised in a loving home by his parents, William D. Johnson and Evelyn Monroe Johnson. Terry was raised in Loda, Illinois and Paxton, Illinois. He graduated from Paxton High School, where he showcased his athletic talents in basketball and football. After high school, he served as an infantry scout in the United States Army for four years. Upon returning, Terry used his skills to start a successful career as a carpenter. He lived in several different cities across the United States, following his twin brother, Tony. Eventually, he settled in Anniston, Alabama, where he continued to operate his carpentry business. Terry, a gentle giant who stood six feet five inches tall, often used his carpentry skills to help those in need, especially his church. In 2011, Terry married the love of his life, Janice Johnson, and together they created a warm and loving home filled with laughter and cherished memories. Terry was a true family man who would give his last to ensure the happiness of those he loved. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially in watching old movies, westerns, and comedies with the people he cherished most. On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Terry Johnson transitioned from this earthly journey and entered eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his father, William D. Johnson; mom, Evelyn Johnson; mother, Ruthie Monroe; brothers, Randolph Monroe and Hunter J. Johnson; grandparents, James and Bessie Ruth Monroe; aunts, Fairy Lebron and Ethel Monroe; uncles, Willie Monroe; and special cousin, Diane Gaines. His memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Janice Johnson; son, Rashun Holloway; daughter, Stacy (Craig) Joyner; brothers, Tony L. (Terkeler) Johnson, Jessie J. (Lori) Johnson, and Darren F. Monroe; sisters, Peggy Monroe, Frances (Edward) Hill, Marilyn A. Gant, and Beverly J. (Ebony) Shackelford; grandchildren, Raina Holloway, Darien Connelly, Payton Newman, and Connor Newman; great-granchildren, Rilynn, Angelique, Phonenix, Skyler, Clara, and Tyson; Aunt: Ella Monroe; uncle, James Monroe; and a host of other family members and friends. As we remember Terry, let us celebrate the love he shared and joy he brought into our lives and honor his memory by carrying forward his spirit of kindness and family devotion. He may no longer walk among us, but Terry Johnson will forever remain in our hearts.
