Tamzen Lewis

A Flawless DANIEL DIVA; Tamzen Nichole Williams Lewis, affectionately known asNikki, was the ultimate daughter, educator, wife, mother, friend and mentor. Born February 27, 1973, in Dothan Alabama to Robbie Williams, Tamzen was the apple of her mother's eye, sitting at her knee while being musically educated by perfect piano. Tamzen was preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Williams and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Minnie Lee Williams. Tamzen received her heavenly jeweled crown, peacefully Friday, February 20, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Tamzen gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended First Missionary Baptist Church, located in Dothan Alabama. She was a leader of the youth department and youth choir. Because of her love for gospel music, Tamzen engaged in a singing ensemble, honoring God through song. Tamzen completed her primary and secondary education through the Dothan City School system, in Dothan, Alabama. She was the president of her senior class "The Class of 1991". During her high school matriculation, with leadership, she participated in the Dothan High School marching band, show choir, National Honors Society, Jr. Biracial Club, and of course the Science Club. Tamzen continued her formal education by attending The Alabama State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, in addition to a Master of Science degree in secondary education. She continued her educational journey by receiving her certification in educational leadership. After graduation, Tamzen proudly accepted a position with the Montgomery County School system, as an educator at Sidney Lanier High School. She loved teaching biology, chemistry, anatomy, life science, and completing labs with her beloved students. Tamzen sponsored many student organizations, including ACT Preparation, tutoring and mentoring programs at Sidney Lanier High School, in addition to introducing the Science in Motion program to the science department. Tamzen was able to motivate and turn students in the appropriate direction, by meeting them where they were and giving them the faith and the ability to choose and work towards a positive path. Tamzen next, met the Love of her life, Derric Lewis, they were indeed married July 2, 2007. From this blessed union came a little ray of sunshine, Robyn Lewis. With this joyous blessing, only a move to Talladega would be fitting to begin her family. Tamzen accepted an offer with the Talladega County School System, progressing as an educator at Nichols Lawson Middle School, Talladega County Central High School and lastly withTalladega City School System (Talladega High School). She continued her mission of building the youth for success. Nikki continued to soar by creating and fostering organization for her students that led them to a pathway of success. Nikki continued her walk of faith by becoming a member of The Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she became a dedicated member of spiritual organizations such as the trustee wife, adult choir and mass choir. Tamzen also was given the charge of choir director for the adult choir, children's and mass choir. Moreover, Tamzen was a vacation bible schoolteacher and assisted with events such as the Black history program, Easter program and the Christmas program. Tamzen is survived by her loving husband Derric A. Lewis of Talladega Alabama; Daughter, Ms. Robyn T. Lewis of Tuskegee Alabama; Embraced Sisters and brothers of love, Tamala Floyd, Agnes (Angel) Byrd-Heard, Shay Lewis, Jeral and Kevis Floyd; Nieces and Nephews, Jerveris , Mikell, Ke-Kra and Jarkeh Floyd (Breona), Eric Roberson and Isiah Lewis; Cousins, Julia Willams, Zavion, Zenetra and Veldrick Johnson(Ranita); Aunts, Minnie Lois Floyd, Labrenda Roberson (Lewis) Diane Lewis and Fanny Ruth Barnes; Uncle, Reverend Willie Billy Williams (Gladys): Dedicated Friends; Sheila Tillis, Vivian Daniels and Gwen Chatman; concluding with a host of extended family, colleagues and friends; and her Fur Baby, Cookie Lewis. "Nikki" was a sweet soul, with a fun-loving and kind spirt, she was always positive and followed by joy wherever she went. We bid farewell to Nikki with much gratitude for the time we shared- A life well lived.
