Sherry A. Swain

Born on July 27, 1964, in Talladega, Alabama, Sherry was the daughter of the late Mr. Wallace Swain and Mrs. Mildred Spinks Swain. Throughout her life, Sherry was known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to family. She prioritized the happiness and well-being of her loved ones, cherishing each precious moment spent with them. Sherry's early spiritual development was nurtured at Mt. Zion CME Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She received her education from the Talladega County School System and graduated from Winterboro High School. During her working years, Sherry dedicated herself to her role in Environmental Services, where she diligently carried out her responsibilities in housekeeping. Known for her reliability and work ethic, she left an indelible mark on those she worked with. Outside of her professional life, Sherry valued quiet moments spent with her grandchildren and cherished watching her favorite soap operas. These simple pleasures brought her warmth, laughter, and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sherry A. Swain peacefully departed from this world on October 31, 2023, while in the care of Brookwood Citizen's Baptist Medical Center in Talladega, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Swain, sister, Shirley Swain, and longtime companion, Curtis Taylor. Sherry is survived by her loving daughter, Alicia Swain, who was the light of her life. She will be greatly missed by her two adoring grandchildren, Brayden Moore and Maraesha Saffold, who brought immense joy to their grandmother's life; two brothers, John Tracy (Ann) Swain and Lavon (Monique) Swain; three sisters, Robin Swain, Deborah (Timothy Kendrick, Sr.) Swain, and Tina Swain; two aunts, Pearl Spanks and Jo Ann Dawson; eleven nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. The void left by Sherry's departure is immeasurable, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her physical presence may be gone, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives she touched. In this time of grief, may we remember the love and joy that Sherry brought into the world. May we find strength in the memories we shared and may her gentle soul find eternal peace.
