Shelly Fomby

Ms. Shelly Sanders Fomby a devoted mother, cherished sister, and friend to many, transitioned peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on October 22, 1945, in Pell City, Alabama, to the union of Clinton Roosevelt Sanders and Lola Tubbs Sanders, she was a shining light in the lives of her family and friends, one of thirteen children who symbolized the spirit of love and connection. Shelly's early years were marked by faith and community as she attended the Second Canon Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. It was there that she embraced Christ, becoming an enthusiastic choir member and a dedicated usher-an example of her lifelong commitment to serving her faith. Upon returning to Pell City, she united with First Baptist Church and later became a treasured member of Christ In Me Family Church, where her vibrant spirit and devotion enriched the congregation. Educated in the St. Clair County School System, Shelly demonstrated a remarkable determination throughout her life. Employed across various industries including poultry, environmental services, and automotive detailing, she approached each role with solid dedication and grace. Shelly brought joy to those around her with her love for plants and flowers, her keen eye for thrifting and shopping, and a generous spirit that always questioned, "Where's my gift?" on special occasions. Her home, a sanctuary of cleanliness and warmth, echoed the love she sprinkled throughout her family, for she took great delight in cooking and creating memorable moments filled with music and dance. As we gather to celebrate her extraordinary life, Shelly will be warmly remembered for her laughter, kindness, and steadfast love for her family. She has joined her beloved children-James, Byron, Barbara, Debra, Lisa, and Krishonda-along with her dedicated parents, Clinton and Lola Sanders, and siblings, Willie Edward Sanders, Marvin Sanders, Wesley Sanders, Lonnie Sanders, and Claudia Sanders, in a grand reunion beyond this world. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Tiffany Sanders; sons, Kevin Sanders, Mario Sanders, Allen Sanders, and Marvin Inkton; special grandson, Rausean Sanders; her dear brothers, Tommy (Elaine) Sanders and Nazarene Sanders; her cherished sisters, Bettye Robinson, Linda (Harry) McCoy, Gertha Love, Mattie Crawford, and Sylvia Fluellen; along with a vast legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure her memory. As we reflect on Shelly's life-a life of faith, resilience, and unwavering love-we invite you to share in a celebration of her spirit, for she will truly be missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
