Robert Pyles

On November 21, 1936, Robert A. Pyles was born to the late Mr. Holly Pyles and Mrs. Nellie Dumas in Hobson City, Alabama. Robert committed his life to Christ at an early age at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Robert, affectionately known as Wolf, received his education at the Calhoun County Training School in Hobson City, Alabama and graduated in 1956. Robert led a life filled with courage, commitment, and unwavering dedication to his community and country. After graduating from CCTC, he proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years. Before retiring from the military and receiving an honorable discharge, Robert courageously fought in the Vietnam War, where he earned the Purple Heart for his bravery. Upon returning home, the love for his community was shown as he worked tirelessly for the betterment of Hobson City as a city councilman for 23 years and as Mayor. Additionally, he had a fulfilling career at the Anniston Army Depot, retiring in 1994 after 17 years of dedicated service. Robert was blessed to share 60 wonderful years of marriage with his soulmate and the love of his life, Katie Rowe Pyles. Their bond was a true testament to love and partnership, filled with laughter, support, and countless memories that they shared with their four children. Robert A. Pyles, at the age of 88, peacefully departed from this earthly realm on Friday, February 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones while under the care of Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. Upon answering the Master's call, Robert was reunited with his father, mother, four sisters, niece, nephew, and a great nephew. Robert will forever be remembered for his unwavering love as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy lives on through his loving wife of 60 years, Katie R. Pyles; children, Noble Jean (Robert) Blackwell of Alexandria, Alabama, Johnny (Geraldine) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Frederick (Lasonya) Ammons of Auburn, Alabama, and Robert (Betty) Pyles of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Robert Pyles may have left this world, but the warmth of his spirit and the impact of his life will forever remain in our hearts. Join us as we remember a remarkable man who lived passionately, served selflessly, and loved deeply. Rest in eternal peace Robert, Father, Pop, and Unk. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
