Robert Davis, Jr.

Mr. Robert Davis, Jr. was born to the union of Robert Davis, Sr. and Juanita Hopkins Davis in Appomattox, Virginia on May 2, 1945. Mr. Davis accepted Christ at a young age while residing in Appomattox, Virginia and he received his formal education in Appomattox County, Virginia. Once relocating to Alabama, Mr. Davis worked with Talladega Foundry as a molder for many years before retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labor. As Mr. Davis traveled this 78-year journey, he became the father of eight loving children. Mr. Davis loved his family and when it came to his family, his love was totally unconditional. He was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. His grandchildren were his prized possessions, and he gave each of them their own nickname. Mr. Davis was a hardworking man who went above and beyond to provide and care for his family. He enjoyed spending time on the banks fishing, eating him a good meal while hanging out at the Huddle House, but most of all he loved watching the WWF (wrestling) and you were not going to impede or interrupt him throughout that time. During football season, he was going to make sure he did not miss the Alabama Roll Tide on Saturdays. Mr. Davis was a very nice and sweet man who loved helping others and would give you the shirt off his back; however, he could sometimes be a bit stubborn if you rubbed him the wrong way. Mr. Davis had a way of making your sad and dullest moment a bright and happy one. If given the opportunity to converse, he was definitely going to have you laughing. His family carried a lifelong tradition of mastering the game of Blackjack, and for him, it was a serious game with no room for error. He was blessed to see and enjoy four generations. Mr. Davis will be missed immensely by all the hearts he has touched and lives he has encountered. On Monday, August 14, 2023, the Lord released peacefully from all pain, Mr. Robert Davis, Jr., and called him home for eternal rest while in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Davis, Sr. and Juanita Davis, wife, Virginia Davis, daughter, Rosalind Davis Wilson, brother, Richard Lee Davis, sister, Ethel (Joseph) Akins, and life partner, Arlisha Whitson. Mr. Davis left behind a legacy of love and memories to forever be cherished in the hearts of his loving children: two sons, Robert Lee Davis, III and Kindecrius Whitson; six daughters, Jeannette Davis, Romona McCoy, Rosalind Davis Wilson, Kendiada (Corey) Whitson, Shaquita (Jeff) Whitson, and Shaquensha (Charles) Whitson; one brother, Larry (Annette) Davis; five sisters, Linda (Gregory) Toliver, Phyllis Davis, Rosie (Robert) Whitaker, Annette (Bernard) Sheely; and Starlene (Samuel) Jackson; and a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
