Orlando Watters

Born on October 26, 1971, Orlando Watters grew up in Anniston, Alabama, where he became one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of Anniston High School. A proud graduate of Anniston High School's Class of 1990, Orlando excelled as a three-sport athlete, setting records and earning distinction in football, baseball, and track and field. On the football field, Orlando was known for his toughness, versatility, and leadership. He played both offense and defense, demonstrating remarkable athletic ability and an unwavering competitive spirit. His outstanding high school career helped establish him as one of the area's premier athletes and opened the door to collegiate football opportunities. Following high school, Orlando continued his football career with the Arkansas Razorbacks, where he proudly represented his school and community while competing at the highest level of collegiate athletics. His talent, dedication, and work ethic eventually led him to professional football, where he played for the Seattle Seahawks, fulfilling a dream shared by countless young athletes. In recognition of his extraordinary achievements and lasting impact on the community, Orlando was inducted into the Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. The honor celebrated not only his athletic excellence but also the positive example he set for future generations. On June 8, 2026, Orlando Watters suited up for the last time, heard the final whistle, and retired to the great stadium in the sky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zebedee and Leola Roper and niece, Aalayah Roper. Orlando's memories will forever be treasured by brothers, Sammie (JoAnn) Watters, Billy Watters, and Zheadric Watters; sister, Tereshal Roper; nieces, Tonyale Jones, Tereshal Lanier, Jamia Watters, Demika Dates, E'myre Roper, and Destiny Watters; nephews, Torez Watters, Jowann Siders, Calief Lanier, and Amir Watters; his loving and cherished significant other of 26 years, Latonya Mackey Andrews; bonus children, Broderick (Angela) Mackey and Vonteria (Timothy Stell) Mackey; his fabulous five whom he adored, Jordan, Jaylen, Jaleya, Keaton, and Ke'Ari; and a host of extended family members and friends. Orlando's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created both on and off the field. He will be remembered as a gifted athlete, a proud Anniston Bulldog, a Razorback, a Seahawk, and, above all, a man whose life made a lasting difference.
