Mary Ann Chapman

Born on February 19, 1952, in Talladega, Alabama to parents Arthur White, Sr. and Jennette Pope White was a beautiful bubbly baby girl given the name Mary Ann. Throughout her life, Mary Ann found solace in nature, especially through her passion for gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers. Her green thumb was admired by all who knew her, and the vibrant colors she nurtured brought joy to her heart. Her daughters, Tamara and Lacey, completed her world, bringing immeasurable pride and happiness into her life. Mary Ann and her beloved husband, Jerome Chapman, celebrated over five decades of love and companionship, sharing a bond that was truly unbreakable. Mary Ann was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend to many, but most of all, Mary Ann was a woman of faith who dedicated herself to her spiritual journey. As a lifelong member of Africa Missionary Baptist Church, she found solace in worship and fellowship. Mary Ann's unwavering commitment was evident in her faithful service to the church until her health began to wane. Professionally, Mary Ann worked diligently at Palm Beach for numerous years before her well-deserved retirement. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Mary Ann received her education at Winterboro High School, where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. It was there that she formed lifelong friendships and developed an unwavering determination to succeed. In her leisure time, Mary Ann delighted in listening to the soulful melodies of Lee Williams gospel music, finding solace and inspiration in his uplifting lyrics. Her joy knew no bounds as she immersed herself in this cherished pastime. Mary Ann's warm, compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her. Her genuine kindness, infectious laughter, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered and deeply missed. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and comfort those whose lives she touched. Mary Ann Chapman, a beloved member of the Mardisville community, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, at the age of 71 while in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. As she entered those pearly gates with that beautiful vibrant smile, she was greeted by her parents, Arthur White, Sr. and Jennette White, brothers, Arthur White, Jr. and Spurgon White, and sisters, Ann Taylor and Jennetta Estelle. Mary Ann is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 51 years whom she shared a lifetime of beautiful memories and endless love, Mr. Jerome Chapman; adoring daughters, Tamara Chapman and Lacey Chapman; grandson, Kelcey Hutchinson; great-granddaughter, Aubree Hutchinson; brother, Manuel White; three sisters, Estelle Franklin, Mary Lois (Cleophus) Locklear, and Dorothy McCall; brother-in-law, Michael Estelle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In this time of profound loss, let us remember and celebrate the remarkable woman that she was - a beacon of light in our community, a devoted wife and mother, and a friend to all. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory forever be a blessing.
