Marie Miller

On February 24, 1944, in Elmore County, Alabama, Marie Lucas Miller was the youngest of thirteen siblings born to the union of the late Nelson Lucas and Essie Mae Wilson Lucas. Her legacy of compassion and generosity will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Marie dedicated her life to caring for her family and community. As a devoted mother, she raised her five children with unconditional love and support. Countless others found comfort in her nurturing presence, as she opened her heart and home to extend her motherly care to those in need. Marie's joy and love were infectious, and she touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her lifetime. Deeply committed to her faith, Marie united with Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where earlier in life she showcased her beautiful singing voice as a member of the choir. She found joy in serving her community and derived strength from her relationship with the Lord. Marie's passions spanned various industries. She had a successful career, working at companies such as Pepsi Cola and sharing her expertise in early childhood education through her daycare. Additionally, Marie was renowned for her hairstyling skills and enjoyed engaging in friendly card games and lively bingo matches. When the harvest season arrived, she would often be found filling her basket with fresh picked greens and preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Marie's vibrant spirit and selfless nature endeared her to all who crossed her path. She was an easygoing and fun-loving individual, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer comforting words. Her zest for life and infectious laughter brightened even the darkest days. Marie Lucas Miller, a beloved soul known for her boundless love and nurturing spirit, peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm to her heavenly home on January 16, 2024, at the age of 79 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love and care of her devoted daughter, Denise. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Essie Mae Lucas, son, Anthony "Ant-Ant" Miller, brothers, Benny, Nelson Lucas,Jr., Dotie Lucas, Bishop Lucas, Israel Lucas, Richard Lucas, and T.K. Lucas, and sisters Rebecca Lucas Poole, Nellie Lucas Hubbard, and Ethel Lucas Wells. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Michael Miller and Roger (Zoey) Miller; two daughters, Rebecca (Julius) Ragland and Latanga Denise Miller; bonus son, Zakarius King; brother, J. C. Lucas; sister, Annabelle Carter; four grandchildren, Jeremy Miller, Jasmine Miller, Tyeshia Miller, and Artavious Scott; two bonus grandchildren, Abigail (Kwame) Little and Laneisha Ragland; ten great-grandchildren,, Raven Miller, Jeremy Miller, Jr., Tykerria Servant, London Miller, Gabriel Servant, Jace Miller, Jeremiah Miller, Evan Miller, Londynn Scott, and Jerseii Miller; two Godchildren, Terrence (Arronda) Mosley and Evette Williams; a niece and nephew whom she raised as her own, Jalonda and Jonathon Rowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends whom she loved dearly.
