Linda Rosetta Curry

Ms. Linda Rosetta Jemison Curry, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was born on April 20, 1934, to the late John Thurman Jemison and Willie Lee Craig Jemison in Talladega, Alabama. Linda's 89-year journey was filled with love, dedication, and unwavering faith. From an early age, she dedicated her life to serving the Lord and became a devoted member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout the years, Linda tirelessly served her church community as a Sunday School Teacher, participating in various committees, working on the Culinary Committee, the Missionary Society, and attending BTU meetings. Her commitment to her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. Educated in the Talladega County School System, Linda completed her studies at Ophelia S. Hill High School. She then embarked on a career in environmental services, working as a custodian at her alma mater before transitioning to becoming a nutritionist in the school's cafeteria. Later, she pursued her passion for hairstyling and became a successful beautician, dedicating her talents to making others look and feel their best. Linda concluded her professional journey after more than 27 years of dedicated service at Crown Textiles, touching the lives of many through her hard work and dedication. As Linda travelled this 89-year earthly journey, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. William E. Curry on July 10, 1953, and to this union came the blessing of two beautiful daughters, Sharon and Stephanie. Linda's warm hospitality and joy of entertaining were truly remarkable. She took special delight in hosting family gatherings, delighting everyone with her exquisite culinary skills, including her pastor, Rev. Clarence Henderson, who was always telling her she was trying to "FATTEN HIM UP". Whether preparing a delicious meal or dining out with friends, Linda's love for good food was evident. Additionally, Linda's passion for sewing allowed her to showcase her talent and contribute to the creation of beautiful garments whenever time allowed. Linda peacefully departed from this earthly realm on January 7, 2024, while surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home. She was received into the embrace of her Savior, joining her beloved daughter, Sharon S. Curry Hayes, and parents, John Thurman Jemison and Willie Lee Craig Jemison who had preceded her in death. Linda was also reunited with her brothers, John Thurman Jemison Jr. and Leamon Jemison, as well as her sisters, Pauline Hardnett, Pearlie Mae Jemison, Cora Lee Taylor, Flora Louis Jemison, Mary Joyce Steen, and Willie E. Madison. Their memories will forever be treasured. Linda leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and cherished memories for her loving daughter, Stephanie (Ray) Jacobs; sister, Yvonne Arnold. Linda's impact on the lives of her grandchildren, Dr. Raynia (Ellis) McGee, Shannon (Katrina) Jacobs, Jaremy Hayes, Emily (Joe) Burnett, and Rev. Richard (Khady) Jacobs, will be felt for generations to come. She held her dear friends, Elders Larry and Tanya Turner, and Minister Pennie Isbell Beeman, close to her heart. Linda also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends who were fortunate to have experienced her compassion, kindness, and unwavering love. As we mourn the loss of our dear Linda Rosetta Curry, let us remember her with fondness, cherishing the memories she left behind. Her compassion, grace, and unwavering love will forever be etched in our hearts. "Though you have left this earthly realm, your spirit will forever guide and inspire us. Rest in peace, dear "Linda Curry," as she was affectionately known. We will always remember your favorite quote "Love is a spirit; you can see it and you can feel it!"
