Lee Gooden

On the day of love, February 14, 1950 in Talladega, Alabama, John Ed Gooden and Willie Mildred Curry Wilson welcomed to the world a baby boy who was given the name, Lee Curtis Gooden. Mr. Gooden was part of a large and loving family with a strong foundation. He accepted Christ at a young age and united with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Mr. Gooden received his formal education in the Talladega City School System where he attended Westside High School and after over thirty-two years of being a dedicated employee of Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind, he retired and began to enjoy the fruit of his labor. Along Mr. Gooden's seventy-four-year earthly journey, he became the proud father of five loving children. He adored his children and grandchildren. Mr. Gooden was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and being on the riverbanks with his rod and reel. If he had time to do anything, fishing would be first on the list. He had a passion for barbering and for many years, he was well-known for his blessed hands and cutting hair. On days when he just wanted to rest and relax, you could find him sitting in front of the television screen watching the National Geographic channel and you dare not disturb him and his animals on the screen; however, some days he would go back in time to the old cowboys and westerns channel. Mr. Gooden will definitely be missed by all the hearts he has touched and lives he has encountered over the years. On Saturday, February 24, 2024, Mr. Lee Curtis Gooden answered the Master's call and boarded the train to glory while in the care of Diversicare of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ed Gooden and Willie Mildred Wilson, daughter, Julia Gooden, brother, Wayne Gooden, and granddaughters, LaToya Merritt and Zy'Nia Gooden. Mr. Gooden's legacy of love and precious memories will forever be remembered by his two sons, Curtis (Kanesha) Gooden and Joshua Gooden; two daughters, Nicole (Antonio) Horrison and Tonya (Wilbert) Scott; seven brothers, Preston (Hazel) Gooden, Marvin (Marquella) Gooden, Martin (Angelique) Gooden, Cortney (Mary Ann) Gooden, David (Carolyn) Gooden, Tracey (Carolyn) Gooden, and Felton Gooden; two sisters, Yteria (Walter) Lenny and Loretta Gooden; eight grandchildren, Steffon (Cassie) Gooden, Curtavious Gray, Antonio Horrison, Jr., Amarion Horrison, Jessica Merritt, Jerimiah Scott, Trinity Scott, Jonathan Scott, Noah Gooden, and Aiden Gooden; special friend, Peggy Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
