Laura Beavers

Born on February 15, 1946, in Eastaboga, Alabama, Laura Ella Curry Beavers was the daughter of Walter Jay and Mary Ida Curry. At the young age of 15, Laura gave her life to Christ and joined Pine Grove CME Church and eventually the Pentecostal church. With a strong faith in God, Laura dedicated her life to serving Him and became a valued member of the Little Jerusalem AFM Church of God in Lincoln, Alabama. Later in life, she joined her husband, James, in worshiping at the Mt. Zebulon AFM Church of God in Talladega. At the time of her passing, Laura was a faithful member of Little Jerusalem #2 in Pell City, Alabama. She received her formal education in the Talladega County School System where she was a graduate of Ophelia S. Hill High School in Munford, Alabama. She later furthered her education by attending a technical college for two years. Laura was known for her unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community. She had a warm and compassionate spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her. Her dedication to her work was evident throughout her career as a presser in the sewing industry, where she spent many years working at Sweet Orr Sewing Plant before retiring as a dorm aide at AIDB. Outside of her professional life, Laura found joy and solace in her faith, attending church services, and participating in community events. She had a deep love for cooking and cherished moments spent with loved ones at joyful cookouts. Her vibrant laughter and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known her. On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Laura Ella Curry Beavers, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Laura peacefully departed this world at the age of 77, with her loving husband, James Beavers, at her side in their family home in Talladega, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Jay Curry and Mary Curry, Fred (Ruth Ann) Curry, Elizabeth (Hosea) Woods, Walter Curry Jr, Nathaniel Curry, and Jerry (Annette) Curry. Although Laura and James did not have children of their own, they shared a deep love and bond with their bonus children, Laterris Moten and Deon Weed, and their bonus daughters, Mary Smoot and Ann Swain. Her beloved sister, Fannie (James) Scott; dear family friend, Pastor George Adams; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Morris and Agnes Marie Lee; brother-in-law, Bob McCargo; sister-in-law, Geraldine Curry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and cherished friends also survive her. As we mourn the loss of Laura's physical presence, we find solace in knowing that she has been reunited with her parents, Jay and Mary Curry, and other loved ones who have gone before her. Laura will forever be remembered for her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and the impact she made on those around her. We extend our deepest condolences to the entire Beavers family during this difficult time, and we pray that the memories of Laura's love and laughter bring comfort in the days to come. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
