Karen Phillips

Mr. Karen Arch Phillips, a cherished father and loyal friend, was born on October 22, 1959, in Talladega, Alabama, to the loving union of Arch Phillips and Magnolia Garrett Phillips. He was one of eight children, raised in a nurturing home that instilled in him values of faith, love, and community support. As a youth, Mr. Phillips accepted Christ as his personal Savior during his time at St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that guided his life and led him to serve faithfully at Shiloh Temple of Deliverance, where he continued to grow spiritually until health challenges made that difficult. A proud graduate of the Talladega County Training School, Mr. Phillips embarked on a fulfilling career in maintenance at the Birmingham Housing Authority, dedicating over 22 years of his life to ensuring homes were safe and comfortable for countless families. His passions included painting and collecting antiques, but his true joy blossomed in the simple pleasures of life-meticulously caring for his yard, reveling in the thrill of sports as an ardent Auburn Tiger enthusiast, and mastering the grill, where he dazzled friends and family with his culinary talents. Mr. Phillips' journey concluded on the evening of May 8, 2026, as he peacefully answered his Master's call in the comfort of his home. He now rejoices in eternity, embraced by the loving arms of his parents, Arch and Magnolia Phillips, brother, Reginald Phillips, and sister, Brenda Rivers. He leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories, treasured by his two devoted children, Jessica Phillips and Tyrell White, and his delightful twin granddaughters, Kyla and Kyra White. He is also survived by his siblings-Andre (Janice) Phillips, Sylvia Phillips, Sabrina Phillips (Derrick) Clark, Carolyn Phillips Lawson, and Priscilla Phillips, along with sister-in-law, Conswelia Phillips; and special friend, Kay Swain. Additionally, he will be missed by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched with his warmth and compassion. As we come together to remember and reflect on his legacy, let us hold tight to the love, laughter, and memories he bestowed upon us, continuing to celebrate the vibrant spirit of Mr. Karen Arch Phillips.
