Mr. Johnnie James Whitson

Mr. Johnnie James Whitson was born to the union of John Henry Whitson and Annie Richardson Whitson in Talladega, Alabama on May 17, 1942. Mr. Whitson accepted Christ while attending Faith Whole Truth #1 Holiness Church. He received his formal education in the Talladega School System. Once completing his education, Johnnie began working in the foundry industry for many years as a molder before retiring. Once retired, he had all the time in the world to do one of the things he loved best which was repairing lawn mowers. As Mr. Whitson traveled this 81-year journey, he met his soulmate, the former Ms. Mozell Swain, who later became his wife when they were united in Holy Matrimony spending many years together with a blessed marriage and family. Mr. Whitson loved his family and when it came to his family, his love was unconditional. He was a loving and dedicated husband, dad, and granddad. He was a hardworking man who went above and beyond to provide for his family. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and listening to spiritual music, but if you gave him the opportunity to converse, he was definitely going to have you laughing. Mr. Whitson will be missed immensely by all the hearts he has touched and lives he has encountered. On Thursday morning, June 29, 2023, the Lord released peacefully from all pain, Mr. Johnnie Whitson, and called him home for eternal rest while in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his Daughter, Alisha Whitson; Parents, John and Annie Whitson, Brothers, Memphis Whitson, Walter Whitson, Raws Whitson, George Whitson, Lonie Whitson, Clearance Whitson, Dave Whitson, John Henry Whitson, Jr., Fred Whitson; Sisters, Betty Mae Whitson, Mary Sue Taylor, Leslie Whitson; and four great grandchildren. Mr. Whitson's precious memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife, Mozell Whitson; three sons, Sammy L. Jenkins, Robert L. (JoAnn) Jenkins, and Danny Jackson; five daughters, Sonya Whitson, Debrah Whitson, Sandra (Albert) Hall, Teresa (Joel) Philips, and Gloria Jackson; thirty grandchildren; eighty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives, and friends.
