Joe Mosley

Joe Mosley was born on February 14, 1961, in Talladega, Alabama, to the late Mr. William Lewis Mosley and Mrs. Evelyn Verdell McElderry Mosley. Growing up, Joe embraced his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Hall Grove Baptist Church in Munford, Alabama before later becoming an invaluable member of the First Missionary Baptist Church, where he continued working in the Lord's vineyard serving diligently on the usher board, kitchen committee, and many other auxiliaries until his passing. Having been educated in the Talladega County School System, Joe attended Ophelia Hill Elementary School and Munford High School. Following in his dad's footsteps, Joe later became a well-known brick mason throughout several different counties in Alabama. He also was a member of the quarterback club and began assisting the youth league becoming their basketball coach. He enjoyed traveling up and down the many highways supporting his beloved Munford Lions. Joe found joy in working as a brick mason, sitting at the stores making it a point to talk to everyone he knew, never meeting a stranger. Joe's love for sports continued throughout his life, always inspiring and guiding those around him. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Big Joe", Joe's warmth and genuine smile were infectious. He possessed a heart filled with compassion and love, which he showered upon his beloved wife Yvonne, their five loving children, and eighteen grandchildren. Joe's devotion to family was unmatched, and he played an instrumental role in the lives of many nieces and nephews, shaping and nurturing them as if they were his own. He found great joy in gathering with loved ones, often showcasing his culinary skills during family gatherings and charming all with his storytelling and jokes. Joe truly embraced life, and his vibrant spirit illuminated every room he entered. Joe Mosley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, touched the lives of all who knew him. With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Joe, who peacefully transcended this mortal realm on December 4, 2023, in Anniston, Alabama at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, let us remember Joe's unwavering faith, his magnetic personality, and the love he shared so generously. He will forever be cherished in the hearts of his devoted wife of thirty-nine years, Yvonne Mosley; his loving son: Joe Mosley; his four adoring daughters: Tameika (Jarrell) McElderry, Blanquita Mosley, Ashley (Devin) Mosley, and Brittany Mosley; his niece: Jakiya Mosley, whom he cherished like a daughter; his eighteen radiant grandchildren consisting of eight granddaughters: Ja'Riyah Gladden, Ta'Kayzjah Gladden, Mikaelyn Clark, Giuna Mosley, Maliyah Clark, Mikenzi Clark, Kylie Virges, Amaiha Mosley, and ten grandsons: Kaydeen Mosley, Markell Jenkins, Jarrell Jr. Gladden, Korbyn Mosley, Makari Virges, Karson Hunter, Bryson Mosley, Kynston Hunter, Brayceon Mosley, Blaise Curry; his devoted brothers: William (Gail) Mosley, Clifford Mosley, and Shannon (Megan) Mosley; his loving sisters: Linda Marie (Earl) Moss, Valerie (Stephen) Harris, Shirley A. Mosley, and Lillian "Toy" (Corey) Jenkins, all of Munford; his special aunt, Annie Pearl Garrett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Joe Mosley, let us find solace in our shared memories and support one another through this difficult time. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
