Jenny Jordan

Born on February 20, 1982, in Pell City, Alabama to parents Derryll Jordan and Lavia Bowie Benjamin was a beautiful bubbly baby girl who was given the name Jenny Nicole Jordan. Jenny's life was a masterful blend of faith, resilience, and unconditional love-a true testament to the transformative power of grace. From an early age, Jenny embraced Christ, nurturing her faith within the comforting walls of Bloominglight Baptist Church before joining the First Baptist Church of Cropwell. Her spirituality was not simply a practice; it was the essence of her being. With gratitude as her guide, she navigated life's challenges, embodying joy even in adversity, alongside the steadfast belief that "God is good all the time, and all the time God is good." Jenny's pursuit of knowledge was evident in her studies at Alabama A&M University, where she proudly pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and continued her education at both Jacksonville State University and Talladega College. Her commitment to lifelong learning mirrored her passionate spirit, continuously striving to reach new heights. For over twenty years, Jenny bravely grappled with Multiple Sclerosis, a journey that would have discouraged many. Yet, she faced each day with humor, grace, and an indomitable spirit. She believed in the power of love and laughter, and her life radiated compassion, making all who crossed her path feel seen and valued. A lover of butterflies, Jenny embraced the symbolism of transformation and hope, reminding us all that new beginnings await. Jenny's legacy is one of faith over fear, gratitude over grief, and joy over circumstance. To know her was to experience the warmth of a heart that beat in rhythm with love, enveloping all who were fortunate enough to be in her presence. As time winds its course, we look ahead to a future where Jenny's spirit transcends this earthly realm, as she embarks on her journey towards eternal peace. On Tuesday, January 12, 2026, at St. Vincent East in Birmingham, Alabama. Jenny was welcomed into peace, joining her grandfather, Sylvester Bowie, and her uncle, Ira Bowie, Sr. She leaves behind her cherished family: loving parents, Lavia (Richard) Benjamin and Derryll (Gaye) Jordan; her treasured son, Ryan Anthony Washington, whom she welcomed into the world on August 1, 2006; her devoted brother, Darcell (Dorothy) Jordan; her sister, Preshous Jordan; her grandmother, Irene Bowie; and a multitude of dear friends and beloved relatives who will honor her memory with love and laughter. As we come together, let us reflect on the joy Jenny brought into our lives, celebrating her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith.
