Jane Foster

Born on May 7, 1927 in Salem, Alabama, Jane Willie Few was the loving daughter of Johnny Few, Sr. and Josephine Heard Few. Mrs. Foster found her spiritual home at an early age while attending Bethel A.M.E. Church in Elmore County. Once moving to Ashland in 1940, she united with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where she served on many boards including the U.N.M. Women Board, Choir President, Sunday School Youth Teacher, Youth President, Usher Board President, Kitchen Committee, and in the choir for countless years. Before her health began to decline, she was attending worship with Evangel Temple. Jane's devout spirit and dedication to her faith were steadfast. She wholeheartedly embraced her community, spreading love and compassion to all who crossed her path. She received her formal education in the Clay County School system where she was a graduate of Clay County High School. Upon completing school, Mrs. Foster embarked on a fulfilling career as a nutritionist in the childcare and healthcare industry, as well as in the poultry industry leaving an indelible mark on all those she encountered. From a young age, Jane exuded an unyielding love for her family and a radiant smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her passion for cooking and her adventurous spirit led her to many delightful events throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and playing cards; but she really found peace and relaxation casting her rod and reel from the riverbanks while fishing. If she had a little spare time, she may try pressing her luck on the slots. Jane's strong faith and commitment to her family will forever be remembered. A true testament to everlasting love, Jane met the love of her life, Jewell Foster, and their connection was undeniable. United in holy matrimony on May 8, 1953, Jane and Jewell built a life full of joy, love, and dedication. Together, they were blessed with four loving children, each one a shining example of their firm commitment to family. On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the age of 97, while in the embrace of her loving family, the Lord beckoned for his angel, Jane Willie Foster, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her saying "Well done my good and faithful servant". Once accepting her Master's call, Mrs. Foster was welcomed home with open arms by her parents, Johnny Few, Sr. and Josephine Few, brothers, Johnny Few, Jr., Nathaniel Few, and James Garfield Few, sister, Jo Alice McClain, granddaughter, Amelia Talley, and grandson, Vernon Marable. While our hearts ache with the loss of Mrs. Foster's earthly presence, we find comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her parents and siblings, who preceded her in death. She will forever be remembered as a cherished soul who illuminated the lives of all who knew her with compassion and unwavering love. Mrs. Foster leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace to forever be cherished by her four generations of family including her devoted husband, Jewell Foster; one loving daughter, Jeanetta (Clayton) Jews; three sons, Clarence (Penny) Foster, Jr., James Edward Foster, and Hugh Ellis (Brenda) Foster; one sister, Nellie (Clarence) McKenzie; five grandchildren, Denise Foster, Tyshenia Foster, Imesia Thomas, Detrick (Genetra) Foster, and Cavin Tremayne Foster; granddaughter-in-law, Anita Marable; granddaughter-in-love, Alcanna Davis; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness and warm spirit. In the quiet moments of remembrance and the shared laughter of stories told, Jane's spirit will forever reside in our hearts, a testament to the enduring power of love and the legacy of a life lived with faith, grace, and compassion until the very end. Let us honor her memory with reverence and gratitude, celebrating a life that brought light and warmth to all who were blessed to know her. May her soul find eternal peace.
