James Thompson

James Edward Thompson, Jr. was born on December 21,1952 in Anniston, Alabama to the late James and Dorothy Thompson. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and united with Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He received his formal education in the Anniston City School System he attended Twelfth Street Elementary School and graduated from Cobb High School with the class of 1971. James met his soulmate, Debbie English, and in 1975, they were united in Holy matrimony. To their union, three children were born, Maletha, James III, and Mondrecko. In 1976, James enlisted in the United States Army with a tour duty to Brussels. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he entered the civilian workforce and was employed at the Anniston Army Depot and later at the Westminster Apartments for Seniors. James, a devoted father and grandfather, found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved his family and adored his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was jovial and prided himself in being the life of the party by telling his jokes and reminiscing about his past experiences that involved his siblings and friends. Rest assure, if he knew it, he was going to tell it, time and time again just in case you forgot it. He never failed to show or mention how proud he was of the accomplishments of his children, siblings, nieces, and nephews. James was a loving, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. James loved all sports and was an avid fan of the "Alabama Roll Tide" and rarely missed a televised game. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching westerns, soap operas, and crime investigative sitcoms. On September 1, 2024, after battling a long illness, James Edward Thompson Jr. peacefully surrendered his life to join his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family. He is now in fellowship with his parents, James and Dorothy Thompson; his sister Linda Gale Hodge, his brother, Anthony Thompson and his; grandparents, Willis and Bertha Jackson and Edward and Ola Thompson. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children; Maletha Autman, James Edward Thompson, III, and Mondrecko Thompson, Sr.; grandchildren; Jasmine Easley, Destiny Easley, Maiya Autman, Ava Autman, Breanna Thompson, Tiyanna Thompson, Eveir Thompson, Ieniya Culver, Mondraya Thompson, Tehya Thompson, Mondrecko Thompson, Jr., Aiyden Thompson, Montae Thompson and Anoki Fortune; his siblings brothers, Travis (Lisa) Thompson, Terry Thompson, Quinton Thompson, sisters; Angela (Melvin) Teague, Sandra (Dwight) Thomas, and Marsha (Vincent) Salter, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. James's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest peacefully, James, and may your spirit continue to bring light into the lives of those you touched
