Ja'Maiya Worrills

On July 12, 2000 in Talladega, Alabama, Lucretia McKinney became the proud mother of a beautiful bubbly baby girl given the name Ja'Maiya Key'Shae Worrills. No one would have ever imagined the significant amount of love and joy one could bring to someone's life. Ja'Maiya did just that; not only to her family, but to her church family and everyone who knew her. She was definitely a special little girl and a blessing from the Almighty God. Ja'Maiya was a living testimony of the miracle works of the Lord, and this was proven as she lived her best life with a disability from birth. Although born with a disability, this did not affect her knowing and receiving Christ while attending service at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her some Pastor Clarence Henderson with all her heart, every Sunday giving him the biggest and tightest hug one could envision. Ja'Maiya received her education in the Calhoun County School System and was a 2021 graduate of Wellborn High School. This was an accomplishment God had planned for Ja'Maiya. Not only was she a blessing to all for 22 beautiful earthly years, Ja'Maiya touched the hearts of so many spreading love wherever she went. She was a precious genuine diamond with a smile that was so infectious, it would light up the darkest moment. Ja'Maiya was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and cousin who loved loving and making people happy, watching TV, working the television DVR like a champ, and embracing everyone with the biggest hugs to show her love. She had a passion for music and if Ja'Maiya had a choice, she would choose pajamas over clothes any day. She loved wearing pajamas and bread was one of her favorite snacks. Her attractive personality could not be contained, she enjoyed her family and loved her mother. She was her mother's pride and joy, and her mother and family always went above and beyond to make sure Ja'Maiya had everything the world had to offer her. After twenty-two blessed earthly years, our borrowed angel, Ja'Maiya , was returned to the Almighty when she gained her angelic wings and entered the heavenly gates on, Tuesday, December 13, 2022 while under the care of University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. As she made her grand entrance through those pearly gates, she began passing out those passionate hugs as she embraced her grandfathers, Melvin Higgins and James Worrills, great-grandfather, Sam Miller, and great-grandmother, Ester Mae Baker. Ja'Maiya's legacy of love and hugs will forever be cherished by her loving and devoted mother, Lucretia McKinney; grandmothers, Nellie McKinney Higgins and Annie Jones Worrills; grandfather, Terry Wilson; father, James Worrills, II; Octavia George; special aunts and uncle, JaKima McKinney, Freida Groce, and Rodney Groce, Sr.; cousins that were considered as bonus sisters and brother, Kierra Groce, Tanayshia Spratling, and Rodney Groce, Jr.; and a host of other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
