Jacqueline Rice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and esteemed member of the Talladega community, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, at the age of 58. She was born on September 12, 1964, in Talladega, Alabama, to parents John Otis James and Lillie Ruth Swain Whitson. At a young age, Jacqueline accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a dedicated and hardworking individual, graduating from high school and forging a successful career as a presser in the dry-cleaning industry with Alabama Industry for the Deaf and Blind at E.H. Gentry, working faithfully until her passing. Known for her meticulous attention to detail, she took great pride in her work and was valued by her colleagues and clients alike. Devoted to her family and known as "Honey" by her grandchildren who were her prized possessions, Jacqueline was a caring wife to her husband Darryl Rice and two daughters, Imani and Cokilius. Together, they created a loving and nurturing home in Talladega for over 34 years. Jacqueline's warm and compassionate nature extended beyond her immediate family, as she touched the lives of many friends and community members through acts of kindness and selflessness. Jacqueline enjoyed cooking and baking delicious meals for her loved ones, and spending quality time with those she held dear. In her spare, she would sometimes press her luck on the slots hoping for a big win. She will be remembered for her vibrant smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering support for those around her. On Friday evening, August 25, 2023, Mrs. Jacqueline Swain Rice traded her earthly home for eternal rest while in the care of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, John Otis James. Jacqueline's passing leaves a profound void, but loving memories in the lives of her husband Darryl Rice; two daughters, Imani Rice and Cokilius (Kurt) Marshall; two grandchildren, Kurt Marshall, Jr. and Madisyn Marshall; mother, Lillie Whitson; siblings, Rickey Swain, Wanda Whitson, Anton (Rachel) Whitson, Scirroco (Courtney) Whitson, Delveccehio Whitson, Sadaka (Larry) Whitson; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Their hearts ache with sorrow, and they find solace in the beautiful memories shared with Jacqueline throughout the years. The legacy of Jacqueline Rice will forever resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be cherished and passed down through generations. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
