Jacoby Emmanuel Dickerson

On July 5, 1995, in Talladega, Alabama, the late Althea Dickerson Hammonds welcomed to the world a handsome baby boy who was given the name Jacolby Emmanuel Dickerson. Jacolby accepted Christ at a young age and united with Mt. Cleveland Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Jerry Jones and at the time of his passing, he was attending The Word Center under the leadership of Dr. Darius Williams. He was educated in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate of Talladega County Central High School Class of 2013. After completing high school, Jacoby worked various jobs and at the time of his passing, he was employed in the landscaping business. Jacolby was known to many as "Colby". Colby was a Tupac loving, no limit, free spirit kind of guy, that had a smile that could brighten the room, because his light was shining. Jacolby Emmanuel means God is with us, and he lived up to his name, by showing us the joy of the Lord in his smile. Jesus said that we are the light of the world, and our wild child let his light shine everywhere he went. When Jacolby entered the room, the party started. When he left, we always felt like the party had just ended. Jacolby was a mama's boy, that longed to be with his mother since her passing in 2006. When Jacolby loved, he loved hard. He loved his family, he loved his friends, he loved the ladies, but most of all, he loved his prized possession, HIS LOVELY GRANDMOTHER. When Colby was in elementary school, he decided that he wanted to be baptized, because he understood what it meant to be saved, because his mother lived a saved life, and she taught him the importance of salvation and the effect that it would have on his eternal soul. Jacolby was a believer!!! His friends encountered Colby in his flesh, but a select few got the real Colby. It has been such a pleasure to meet and converse with the few who knew the real Colby. In case you don't know your spirit, man is the real you!!! These conversations have blessed us, but the people who encountered Colby in the flesh, your stories bless us too, because we got both of them. So Colby, your wild stories will continue to make us laugh, and your spiritual stories will continue to make our hearts smile. He had a passion for drawing and just a few years ago, he discovered his true talent, and that was becoming a well-known tattoo artist. Colby could draw anything he put his mind to. He was a naturalist at heart who appreciated nature. This was proven through his love for dogs, turtles, snakes, and even his pet bird. When Colby wasn't landscaping and being an artist, you could find him enjoying some quiet time on the banks fishing or propelling. He enjoyed people and always had you laughing. There was never a dull moment when Colby was present. He not only loved his family, but he loved spending quality time with his family, cousins, and friends. So, let's not be saddened by his transition to his eternal home, for we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We did not come to this world to stay forever, but we came to fulfill purpose. Jacolby's purpose will be fulfilled with you all receiving the gift of salvation. When this short time on earth expires, you too must receive salvation in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. So, if you would like to receive salvation simply pray this prayer: Lord Jesus, I confess my sins, and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior, take complete control of my life, and help me walk in your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer. Late Wednesday evening, February 22, 2023, at the young age of 27, Jacolby Emmanuel Dickerson traded his earthly journey for eternal rest joining his beloved mother, Althea Hammonds and grandfather, Eugene Dickerson, Jr. Jacolby leaves to cherish his loving memories his sister, Cecelia (Fred) Patterson; brother, Jamar (Shuntoria) Dickerson; grandmother, Inez (Tommie) Dickerson-Wells; aunts, Jacquelyn Shoulders, Derece (Lee) Swain, and Bridget (Cavares) Dickerson Merritt; two nephews, Jayden Patterson and Javien Patterson; niece, Theori Dickerson; cousins, Jawun Shoulders, Jessica Shoulders, Jordan Swain, Jaylen Swain, and Summer Merritt; and a host of other relatives and friends. Although a heart of gold has stopped beating and two willing hands has been put to rest, God broke all our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. Jacolby, we will always love you and you will be missed immensely by all the hearts you have touched and lives you have encountered.
