Gary W. Little

On October 24, 1951, in Pell City, Alabama, Tessie Little and Grady Miller welcomed their son, Gary Wayne Little, to the world. Gary grew up in the home of his Grandma Amanda which was filled with love and laughter along with his great-grandmother, Granny (Harriet) where he was raised with his cousins, Larry, Bonderie, Sandra and Faye. Gary was a man of faith who loved the Lord. At a young age, he accepted Christ and became a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church in Lincoln, Alabama. Later in life, Gary united with Greater Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, where he continued to worship. Gary attended Charles R. Drew School and Lincoln High School, where he was a star basketball player. Following high school, Gary relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he began a new chapter in life. He eventually enlisted in the United States Army. Gary honorably served his country as an infantryman and as a cook. After his time in the Army, Gary moved to New Jersy and worked for the New Jersey State Prison where he was the head chef before returning home to Alabama. Upon returning to Alabama, Gary married the love of his life, the former Janice Montgomery. Their marriage was built on love, friendship, and devotion, and together they shared many treasured years and memories. Gary enjoyed sports. You could always count on him to be watching a game, so you already knew not to call his phone. On Saturday, June 20, 2026, two months after his mother's death, Gary transitioned to his eternal home joining his father; mother; grandson, Gary Wayne III (Little Man); grandmother, Amanda; grandfather, Tessie; great-grandmother, Harriett; uncles, Jessie and Isaac; aunt, Flossie Bell; and bonus brother, John L., Jr. Gary's memories will live on in the hearts of his wife, Janice; son, Gary Wayne, Jr. (Jenae); daughter, Tafeni; bonus children, Labronica, Lucretia, Kenya, Eric, and Donald; brothers, Gregory, Barry, and Roderick; sister, Shawnee; bonus brother, Juan Lynn; bonus sister, Cheryl (Ronald); aunts, Almeta of Talladega and Harriett of Lincoln; godson, Daniel; sister in-laws Vernice (Lonnie) and Teresa (James); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Though he is no longer with us in body, his memory, love, and influence will remain forever cherished.
