Eva Lila Ann Heard

Eva Lila Ann Hill Heard was born to her loving parents, Robert G. Hill and Annie Higgins Hill, on June 1, 1939, in Cragford, Alabama. Eva accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cragford, Alabama. In 1962, she united with Mount Olive Baptist Church in Heflin, Alabama where she remained a faithful member until she moved to Andalusia, Alabama in 2020. Allowing God to lead her, she later united with First Baptist Church on Whatley in Andalusia, Alabama. Along life's journey, she met the love of her life, Crawford Heard, whom she loved and cherished. On June 28, 1957, they were united in holy matrimony and together, with love and compassion, they raised five children. Eva, a dedicated wife and an avid lover of gospel music, was always there to support her husband and cheer him on as he traveled and performed with the Southern Bells Gospel singers of Heflin, Alabama. Eva was also a devoted homemaker and caregiver who poured her heart into her family. She was an excellent cook and will especially be remembered for her delicious fried chicken and pound cakes. When she hung up her apron, she eagerly passed down her cooking utensils to her granddaughters, ensuring her legacy of love would continue through generations. In her spare time, Eva enjoyed going to the Senior Centers in Heflin and Andalusia where she loved playing Mexican dominos. Eva Hill Heard, a devoted woman of God, had a leak in her old building. But on Sunday, January 5, 2025, she bid farewell and moved to a building not made by man's hand and received a complete healing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Heard, daughter, Robin D. Dancy, parents, Robert and Annie Hill, and sisters, Laura Godwin and Fanny Hill. Her memories will forever be cherished by her children, Linda Hayes of Hampton, Virginia, Cynthia Heard Brooks of Augusta, Georgia, Michael (Melisha) Heard of Andalusia, Alabama, and Crawford Mitchell (Holly) Heard of Jonesboro, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As we gather to celebrate Eva Heard's life and legacy and to honor her loving and caring spirit, let us find comfort in knowing that her soul has found peace in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior.
