Elbert Goodman

Mr. Elbert Goodman was welcomed into this world, with his twin sister, Ethel, on August 27, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, by his parents, William Goodman and Jesse Garrett Goodman. Elbert attended the Calhoun County Training School and eventually entered the workforce. He was a pioneer in his community, founding the Goodman Burger and crafting the beloved BBQ sauce while employed at Jess BBQ. After many years of service, he retired from the Anniston Army Depot where he was a hard-working and dependable supervisor. Elbert operated a lawn care business under the motto "we don't cut, we manicure," which reflected his meticulous attention to detail and pride in his work. Elbert's attention to detail extended to his personal style, taking immense pride in his appearance, always looking his best. Elbert found joy in simple pleasures. He could often be found watching one of his favorite Westerns, reflecting on his love for racing cars, or engaging in friendly chatter on his CB Radio. He had a steadfast loyalty to his favorite restaurants, the Waffle House and Jack's, where he was well known by the staff. As a proud Auburn Tiger fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Family was at the heart of Elbert's world. He was not just a proud father of his two daughters, Tina and Ericka, and a pillar of support and love in their lives, but also an enthusiastic supporter of his grandchildren at countless sports events and milestones in their lives. Although he had a feisty personality and a few stubborn moments that added to his charm, he was yet a loving man who never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 79, Elbert Goodman answered the Master's call and entered eternal rest in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved loves. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Troy D. Goodman, Cora L Smith, Majorie Chamblin, Ethel Goodman, Willie D. Goodman, and Emma J. Kirby. Mr. Goodman leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by his daughters, Tina (Charles) Jones, Ericka (Brian) Whatley; grandchildren, Marcus (Lisa) Goodman, Kristan (Shakey) Goodman, and Maiya (Seyram) Selase; great-grandchildren, Zaria, Zoey, and Kason; brother, Gene D. Goodman; sister, Ora L. Gibson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Let us gather to reminisce, reflect, and honor a man who touched the lives of many and left a lasting impression on all. Elbert Goodman may have departed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
