Edna Embry

Ms. Edna Embry was a cherished soul, born on February 5, 1948 to Madie Ragland Embry in Lincoln, Alabama. She entered the world with a steadfast heart and a resilient spirit, qualities that she carried with her throughout her 77 years of life. Edna was a radiant spirit, a devoted mother, and a steadfast pillar in her community. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she became a faithful member of the Free Will Church of God in Christ, Lincoln, where she remained a devoted member until her health began to fail. Throughout her life, Edna embraced the joy of community and connection, fostering relationships that spanned generations. Her education in the Talladega County School System, particularly at Charles R. Drew High School, laid the foundation for a fruitful career. Edna dedicated over 35 years to Avondale Mills in Pell City, Alabama, where her hard work and dedication as a Coil Operator were unparalleled. Upon retirement in 2001, she reveled in the tranquility of nature, often finding comfort on the serene riverbanks, fishing rod in hand, cherishing the simple pleasures life offered. She also enjoyed the simplicities of life-sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch, gardening, and spending hours talking to her friends and family on the telephone. Ms. Edna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spread her love unconditionally and touched the lives of all who knew her. In her youth, she was known for her athletic talent as a popular softball player, affectionately nicknamed "Hank Aaron." On Friday afternoon, September 26, 2025, Ms. Edna Embry peacefully embarked on her final journey, answering her Master's call while in the comfort of her cherished home surrounded by her loving family. Preceded her in death were her mother, Madie Ragland Embry; four sisters, Gloria White, Ruby Williams, Elizabeth Baldwin, and Robbie Lee Embry; and three brothers, Walter Ragland, James Embry, and Willie Embry. She leaves to cherish her memory, two loving daughters, Charlean Embry and Angial Mechelle (Earl) Embry, both of Lincoln, Alabama; one brother, Samuel Lewis (Nelly) Embry; three grandchildren, Cornelius Sr. (Monique) Embry, Donelius Embry, and Cordarrius Collins; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Let us join in unity to celebrate the indelible mark Edna Embry left on our lives with her strength, compassion, and unwavering faith. While her physical presence is no longer among us, her spirit will forever inspire love and resilience in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
