Dorothy Bradford

Born to the late Ethel Kirksey and the late A.D. Booker in Talladega, Alabama on February 6, 1950, Dorothy Louise Kirksey Bradford brought immeasurable joy to the lives of her loved ones and community. Louise was a beacon of light, embracing life with a spirited and vibrant personality. She treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and TT nana. Her love for her family knew no bounds. A woman of faith, Louise was a devoted member of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. She found solace in her church community, where she served on the Culinary Committee and received recognition as the Resident of the Year in the Curry Court Community on multiple occasions. Louise's dedication and hard work were evident throughout her life. She attended Westside School and made meaningful contributions to society through her occupation as a laborer in the manufacturing industry. Dorothy Louise Kirksey Bradford, a devoted mother, doting grandmother, beloved sister, and loving aunt passed away on October 11, 2023, at the age of 73 in her cherished hometown of Talladega, Alabama at Brookwood Citizen's Baptist Medical Center while surrounded by loved ones. Louise rejoins her parents, Ethel Kirksey and A.D. Booker, along with her sisters, Marian Threatt and Brunetta Kirksey O'Neal, nephews Theopholis Simmons, Jeffrey Threatt, Kadeem O'Neal, La'Ravous Cole, and Adarius Simmons, and brother-in-law Benny Curry, in the kingdom of Heaven. Louise leaves behind a treasured legacy of love and laughter that will forever be remembered by her loving son Rodney Kirksey; beloved granddaughter, Lebrieuna Chin; grandson, Rodzekus Kirksey who cared for her with unwavering devotion; nephew, Byron Kirksey; great-granddaughter, Paisley Embry; four sisters, Ann Marie Simmons, Effie Payne, Mary Elizabeth Kirksey, and Shirley Curry; four grandchildren, Darrell Taylor, Shaquandria Kirksey, Nakita Kirksey, and Talia Kirksey; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Although her unexpected departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew her, we choose to rejoice in the cherished memories Louise left behind. Her unwavering faith, unconditional love, and infectious humor continue to inspire us all. In celebration of Dorothy L. Kirksey Bradford's life, let us remember the impact she made, the joy she spread, and the love she shared. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory forever be a blessing to us all.
