Dontrell Gooden

On August 17, 2004, in Talladega, Alabama, Timothy Gooden and Chervon Hull Tanner became the proud parents of a handsome baby boy who was given the name Dontrell Timothy Gooden who later became affectionately known as "Li Bubba". Dontrell's journey of life was filled with love and laughter. He was raised in a nurturing environment, attending Mt. Zion Seven Day Adventist Church with his grandmother during his youth, and later worshipping at the Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. An industrious young man, Dontrell was education within the Jefferson County School District, where he attended Tarrant High School. He then embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry, working as a forklift operator in various warehouses, notably at WKW. Remembered for his vibrant spirit and infectious joy, Dontrell had a passion for play station video games and dancing. His heart was especially warm for his beloved nieces and nephews, who brought him immense joy and for whom he was the perfect uncle. Every interaction was characterized by firm devotion to his family, enriched by his playful gestures, including his endearing efforts to convert his mother into an Alabama Roll Tide fan. He was always so full of life, and everyone loved him instantaneously. Because of his likable personality and good attitude, Dontrell was so easy to love. He always ended his conversations with "I LOVE YOU" or I LOVE YOU MORE"!!!! On Sunday November 24, 2024, Dontrell Timothy "Li Bubba" Gooden's life journey came to an end, reuniting him with his father and his cherished grandparents. Despite the sorrow of his passing, we celebrate the light he brought into our lives-a light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him. Dontrell leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted mother, Chervon (Kevin Minnifield) Tanner; two brothers, Deontae (Kaya Cook) White and Devin (Faith) Tanner; loving sister, Danielle Tanner; his adored nieces and nephews, Levi Garrett and Taelyn White of Talladega, Samamio Sims, II, Skylar Tanner, and Mariah Tanner, all of Birmingham; uncles, Omar Hull of Birmingham, Sean (Darissa) Williams of Huntsville, and Robert Richardson of Talladega; aunts, Yvette Cook of Atlanta, Costello Swain and Kimberly Fears of Talladega, and Princess Swain of Hueytown; special cousins, Tenisha Richardson, Laquisha Richardson, Rondella Richardson, and Cariah Fears, all of Talladega, and Marquis Groce of Birmingham; best friend, Laderric Isom; and a host of cousins and friends. In this time of mourning, we reflect on the beautiful memories shared with Dontrell-his laughter, his love, and his steadfast spirit. His absence will be deeply felt in his community and within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we forever cherish the legacy of love he leaves behind.
