Destry "B-Bop" Embry

Destry "B-Bop" Embry, a beloved son, brother, and friend, was born on April 20, 1964, in Talladega, Alabama, to the late John William Embry and Mamie Miller Embry. Destry's zest for life and infectious energy truly made him a joy to be around. Known for his love of dancing and his vibrant personality, he could light up any room with his presence. As a custodian in environmental services, Destry took pride in his work and ensured that every space he cleaned was left spotless. His attention to detail and dedication made him an invaluable member of the workforce, having worked at various establishments, including Honda Manufacturing, Jack's, Goodgame, Hall of Fame, KFC, and Gateway. Outside of work, Destry had a passion for detailing cars and taking care of lawns, showcasing his meticulous nature and commitment to perfection. He had an unwavering faith in God and as a youth, he became a member of Holy Hill Church of God and later Refuge Church of Christ, where he found solace and spiritual guidance. It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce his peaceful passing on January 3, 2024, at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama, at the age of 59. Destry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Embry, and his dear sister, Tracy Embry Givens. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his surviving brother, William Marcus Embry, who, along with his wife Chekelia Estell Embry, shared in Destry's journey through life. Destry's extended family joins together to celebrate his life, including his two bonus brothers, Jerry (Willene) Orr Jr. and Jeffrey (Novette) Orr, and his two bonus sisters, Valerie Fleming (Jeffrey) and Lynn Orr. He will also be missed dearly by his special aunts/mothers , Loretta E. Jamar and Rhoda Brunson, and his uncles, Roosevelt (JoAnn) Fomby, Fred (Mary) Fomby, Sidney (Mary) Fomby, Elton (Jimmie Lou) Fomby, and Charlie (Ann) Miller, who played significant roles in his life; aunts, Rose (Willie) Mitchell and Lorene White; special sister/cousins, Jamillah (Keshwan) Amor and Michelle Suttles; special nieces and nephews, Khamari Sykes, Tevin Embry, Jolei Amor, Stevon (Tasha) Rogers, and Sheron Rogers, as well as numerous cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all who supported and loved Destry throughout his life. Your presence and kindness have brought immeasurable comfort during this difficult time. Destry "B-Bop" Embry will forever be remembered for his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for those around him. Though his physical presence may be gone, his memory and the imprint he left on our hearts will live on eternally. May Destry's soul find eternal peace and may his family and loved ones find solace and strength during this time of mourning.
