Debra Swain

Mrs. Debra Ann Staples Swain was introduced and welcomed to the world on October 30, 1959 by proud parents Raymond and Annie Pearl Garrett Staples in Talladega, Alabama. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and united with St. Campbell Missionary Baptist Church. Debra received her formal education in the Talladega County School System and attended Talladega County Training School. She later enrolled at Nunnally Community Technical College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Healthcare industry. She worked many years with Talladega Health and rehab and Cook Springs Nursing Home. Debra loved her job, and she enjoyed taking care of her patients. As Debra traveled her 62-year earthly journey, along the path, she met her soulmate, Mr. Alonza Swain, who soon became her husband when they were united in Holy Matrimony and with this union they shared the blessing of two loving children, Jerry and Christine. Debra loved spending time with her family and enjoying quality time with her grandchildren. While relaxing, she would either enjoy reading a good book or get deep into her knitting skills. Going to estate sales and bingo would make her day. She enjoyed treasure hunting and finding good bargains. When in the kitchen, she would let you know who the real cook was, as she loved cooking for her family and friends. If you knew Debra, you knew she was a great person with a kind heart. Those who have sat around with her playing a few games knew she could talk a lot of mess and keep the party going. She was known to keep you laughing and smiling. Debra will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her. On Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022, while in the care of Brookwood Citizen's Baptist Medical Center, Debra peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal resting place joining her parents Raymond and Annie Pearl Staples. She leaves a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Alonza Swain; daughter, Christine Garrett; son, Jerry Swain; sister, Victoria (Carl) Hill; brothers, Richard Staples, Darryl (Tabitha) Staples, Bain (Shakira) Staples, and Leon Staples; grandchildren, Malakia Sheffield, Jahazara Swain, Trevion Adams, Qylan Adams, and Inissa Smith; great-grandchildren, Leo Adams, Orion Adams, and Zion Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many other relatives and friends who will miss and cherish her dearly.
