Deanna Weed

Mrs. Deanna Britt Weed was born to the union of Charlie and Willie Britt on December 30, 1943 in Talladega, Alabama. Mrs. Weed accepted Christ at an early age and united with Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and served on the matron board. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful servant while working in his vineyard. She received her formal education in the Talladega County School System and was a 1962 graduate of Talladega County Training School, known today as Talladega County Central High School. Mrs. Weed later migrated to Boston, Massachusetts with her husband for better job opportunities. This became home for over 22 years. She worked in the healthcare industry and as a press operator for several years in Boston before returning home to Alabama. As she traveled this earthly journey, she found love and companionship in Mr. John Weed. On November 26, 1971, the two were united in Holy Matrimony and to this union came the blessing of one beautiful daughter, Lowanda and a special granddaughter, DeAndra. Mrs. Weed was the true definition of a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally and was always willing to give you one of her beautiful smiles if you needed one to brighten your day. Mrs. Weed was a fun-loving person who was a pillar to her community, always waiting on that special request for them cabbages, cakes, and custards. She will be truly missed by all the hearts she has touched and lives she has encountered. Mrs. Weed known to many as "Shorty" had a passion for cooking and a green thumb for planting flowers. At Christmas time, she enjoyed not only decorating her home and yard, but also seeing other decorations throughout the community. With the passion and talent of cooking, those skills were utilized when she became employed as a dietician with the Talladega County School System. Mrs. Weed began her dietician career at Charles R. Drew Middle School and later transferred to Lincoln Elementary School to be with her only precious granddaughter, DeAndra. After 26 years of dedication, she retired to enjoy the fruits of her labor. During her retirement, she enjoyed looking at the news, sitting on her porch with her late husband, John, and watching football, particularly the Auburn Tigers!! If you asked her for her favorite snacks, she would let you know to bring her some boiled corn, grapes, and a Coca-Cola. On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, after seventy-nine blessed earthly years, God called for his servant, Mrs. Deanna Britt Weed to take rest as she transitioned to her eternal home while surrounded by her loved ones. Once reaching those pearly gates, she was reunited with her husband, John Weed, sister, Eunice Britt, and five brother, James Britt, Major Britt, Mervin Britt, L.D. Britt, and Billy Britt. Mrs. Weed leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving and devoted daughter, Lowanda (Dwight) Elston; precious granddaughter, DeAndra Elston; special nephew, Julius (Charlotte) Groce; brother, George (Margaret) Britt; sister-in-law, Sadie Britt; and a host of other relatives and friends.
