David Duncan

On April 20, 1954, in Talladega, Alabama, Walter Fuller and Flora Mae Duncan embraced a lovely baby boy whom they welcomed to the world and gave the name David Earl Duncan. David, affectionately known as "Yotti" to friends and family and "Sandy" to his community, was a radiant light to all who knew him. He embraced life with unfettered joy, wisdom, and an infectious spirit. His journey began at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. A proud graduate of Talladega High School, he played on the renowned Talladega Tigers Football team, a testament to his competitive spirit and love for the game. Following his high school years, David served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, demonstrating a commitment to duty that would carry forth throughout his life. He returned home to share his warmth with his family and friends, working diligently at various jobs, including Dolly Madison, Georgia Pacific, and concluding his career as a forklift operator at NSE. An avid learner and reader, David found joy in various pursuits. Whether he was playing golf or tennis or passionately supporting his cherished "Auburn Tigers" during football season, David was a man dedicated to creating joyful memories with his loved ones. He never met a stranger and engaged everyone with his rich vocabulary and anecdotes-his laughter resounding in the hearts of those he encountered On Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025 while under the care of the VA Medical Center, God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were getting harder to climb so he beckoned for his child, David Earl Duncan, at the age of 71, to peacefully take eternal rest joining his parents, Walter Fuller and Flora Mae Duncan, brother, James Fuller, and sister, Belinda Richardson. David Earl Duncan's legacy is carried forward by his children, Tracy Lamar Brown and Llana Marie Duncan; brothers, Billy W. Hawkins, Ira Cross, and Michael Fuller; sisters, Mary Jackson, Sharon Duncan, Gwennette Duncan, Louise Fuller, Teresa Lee, Jamie Herring, Bernadine Herring, and Cynthia Thomas; grandchildren, Hayden Sage Truss, Tre'Sean Brown, Ka'Miya Jones, Jordan Jones, Kay'lee Deloach, Jayden Deloach, and Kayden Deloach; special nephew, Keisten Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends. In unity and love, we will remember his zest for life and the warmth he brought to every moment. May David Earl Duncan rest in eternal peace, as he continues to shine bright in our hearts.
