Charles Pointer

Mr. Charles Pointer, a man whose life touched the hearts of many and whose presence will forever be cherished, was born on July 16, 1946 to the union of J. C. Pointer and Katie Lee McGhee Pointer in Talladega, Alabama. As a faithful member of Belview Missionary Baptist Church, Mr. Pointer found comfort and strength in his faith, guiding him through life's triumphs and challenges. He was educated in the Talladega City School System where he attended Westside High School. After high school, he migrated north to Lansing, Michigan for better job opportunities and became gainfully employed with General Motors for several year before returning to Alabama. Once back home, Mr. Pointer worked hard as a production worker with Georgia Pacific for many years, leaving a legacy of hard work and perseverance. A proud father of seven and a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, he adored his family and shared a bond that transcended time and space. Mr. Pointer lived a life that exemplified dedication, love, and firm commitment to his family. He was an amazing grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed going to watch his grandchildren games. His family meant the world to him and there is nothing he would not do for his children and grandchildren who were his prized possessions. His love for sports, particularly women's basketball and football, brought joy and passion into his life, sparking lively conversations, and creating lasting memories. The Connecticut Huskies was his favorite women's basketball team; however, during football season, he devoted his time to cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was known for telling life stories to family and friends and in his spare time, he enjoyed watching movies, but the Sci-Fi channel was his favorite. On Monday morning, May 6, 2024, Mr. Charles Pointer, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle departed this walk of life and entered the heavenly realm joining his parents, J.C. and Katie Pointer, brother, J.C. Pointer, sister, LaVonne Gooden, and wife, Carolyn Pointer. Mr. Charles Pointers leaves a legacy of love and memories to forever be cherished by his four sons, Ryan O'Neal (Carolyn) Pointer, Eric Demetrice (Sherridon Nix) Pointer, Brandon Lee Pointer, and Jason Thomas Pointer; three daughters, DeQuanda L. Carson of Eastpointe, MI, Crystal Cole, and Jasmine Paige Pointer; mother of his children, Penny Pointer; two brothers, William (Wanda) Pointer and Michael (Jacquelyn) Pointer; sister, Betty Ruth (Jerry) Dates; brother-in-law, Jerry Gooden; nine grandchildren, TyJia' D. Carson Callaway, JaKayla Maliyah Pointer, Ian Tevon Pointer, Eloni Lee Pointer, Evie Rae Pointer, Corneshia Pointer Smith, NaKaiyah Barclay, Tierra Jones, and Ja'Larrion Garrett; great-grandson, Marvin Smith, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In his departure, we find consolation in the memories we shared, the lessons he imparted, and the love that will endure for eternity. May his soul rest in peace as he embarks on his final journey, surrounded by the love and light that guided him throughout his life.
