Carolyn Jackson

Born on February 27, 1947, in Eastaboga, Alabama, to the cherished union of Denver Woods, Sr. and Eunice Montgomery Woods, Carolyn's life was a testament to love, faith, and steadfast dedication. From an early age, Carolyn embraced her faith, accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. Her spiritual journey continued as she became a devoted member of Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where she served tirelessly as a Sunday School Teacher. Her passion for nurturing the faith of the children was remarkable; she ensured that each child felt loved and welcomed while learning about God. Carolyn's strong faith and commitment were cornerstones of her life, inspiring those around her. Carolyn received her formal education in the Talladega County School System, graduating in 1965 from Ophelia S. Hill High School. She began her professional career as a Licensed Practical Nurse and, driven by her passion for caring for others, furthered her education to become a Registered Nurse at Gadsden State College. Carolyn spent many years as a dedicated nurse at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, where her compassion and kindness touched the lives of countless patients before she retired to enjoy the fruits of her labor. On November 5, 1972, Carolyn entered into a loving marriage with the love of her life, Houston Jackson. Their bond flourished over 52 beautiful years, and together they raised two wonderful children, instilling in them the same values of love, faith, and service that defined Carolyn's life. As the matriarch of her family, she relished in the joys of motherhood and grandmotherhood, creating a legacy of love that will endure for generations. Carolyn was known for her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She embraced challenges as an avid gamer on her phone and she thoroughly enjoyed traveling, cherishing the moments spent with family and friends as they explored the world together. After 77 blessed earthly years, Mrs. Carolyn Woods Jackson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, completed her journey of exuberant life and selfless love just moments before her 78th birthday, as she peacefully fell asleep and answer her Master's Call while in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones, who will carry her memory in their hearts. She was met at the pearly gates and welcomed home by her loving parents, Denver Woods, Sr. and Eunice Perkins, brother, Milton Woods, and sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Woods. Mrs. Jackson's 77-year legacy of love and memories will remain in the hearts of her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Houston Jackson; son, Timothy Jackson; daughter, Evette Jackson; brothers, Fred Woods, Denver (Patricia) Woods, Jr., Stevie (Judy) Woods, and Sidney (Millicent) Woods; sister, Claudette Chapman; sister-in-love, Rosemary Stokes; grandchildren, Kelvin Evans, Jr., Kasia Jackson, Mckenzie Raines, J'Lynn Jackson, Nayomi Jackson, and Evander Houston Jackson; great-grandson, Zakai Yarbrough;; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In this time of sorrow, let us celebrate the remarkable life of Carolyn Woods Jackson, a shining light who touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
