Benjamin Franklin Swain, III

Mr. Benjamin Franklin Swain III departed this life to be with the Lord on January 10, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 15, 1936, Benjamin was the eldest son of Mr. Benjamin Franklin Swain II and Mrs. Estelle McCary Swain. He resided in Alpine, Al and was a lifelong member of King's Chapel Church of Alpine, Al. Benjamin was united in holy matrimony to Sallie Ann Brown Swain for 50 years, and together they raised 6 children: Yolanda, Felicia, Demetra, Rodney, Ramon, and Franklin. He was a loving, caring, and most supportive husband, an amazingly devoted father to their children and grandchildren, and a friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Mr. Swain was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School. After being called to duty and serving in the United States Army, he was honorably discharged in 1965. He retired from Kimberly Clark Corporation where he was highly recognized and employed for over 35 years. He also owned and operated Swain Logging for more than 40 years. A man of many words with the ability to make everyone laugh and an excellent storyteller, Benjamin was well known and revered by many throughout Talladega County. Known for his work ethic, personality, kindness, generosity, selflessness, and dedication; he epitomized the definition of a hardworking man and provider. His legacy will live on through his family and friends. Preceding him in death: his wife Sallie A. Swain, daughter Felicia D. Swain; parents, Benjamin II and Estelle Swain; siblings, Eula Swain, Beulah Garrett, Doris Garrett, Richard Swain, Daniel Swain, Joe Swain, and Larry Swain. Left to cherish memories of him are his children and grandchildren: Yolanda Denise Knorr ( Keith) of Dubai,UAE; Demetra F. Swain Reynolds-Austin Kyle Reynolds, Milton Vaughan Reynolds II all of Alpine, AL and Benjamin Tyler Swain of Columbia, SC; Rodney S. Swain- Kylah Nicole Williams, Jabaria Reze'ann Swain, and Ariana Leann Swain all of Oxford, AL; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ramon G. Randall Jr. (Amanda)-Aden Benjamin Swain Randall, Elijah Benjamin Swain Randall, and Coby Benjamin Swain Randall all of Mobile, AL; Franklin L. Randall (DaShena)- Baile Annalise Randall, and Bella Shaurice Randall all of Yukon, Oklahoma; Alexis Te'Ann Miller of Minneapolis, MN and Kiirsten Bre'Ann Daniels of Westampton, NJ; children: Andre Phillips (Janice) of Alpine, AL and Sabrina Phillips Clark of Talladega, AL; grandchildren: Gemila ( Kurt) Bronner of Warren, MI; Pashon Swain of Detroit, MI; Ayana Swain of Detroit, MI; Gerard ( Ebony) Swain of Southfield, MI; siblings: Cornelia Strickland of Talladega, Al; Francina Scott of Springhill, Florida; Bertha Swain of Jonesboro, GA; Carol DeCoudreaux (Victor) of East Point, GA; Gwynethe Ball of Alpine, AL; and Edsel Swain of Kennesaw, GA; a very special sister-in-law: Alberta B. Swain, a very special nephew: Ronald Swain, very special nieces: Gwendolyn Davis and Cheryl Swain, and a most precious and special great-great-great niece Aria K. Stone; a host of more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, sisters-in-law, and friends.
