Annie Terrell

Born on February 16, 1941, in Talladega, Alabama, Annie was the cherished daughter of William Elston and Tellar Curry Elston. A remarkable woman with a gentle spirit, she touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. From a young age, Annie embraced her faith, joining Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Munford, Alabama where she served her community faithfully until her health began to decline. Her commitment to her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times. Annie's life was defined by her firm commitment to education and her deep compassion for the children she nurtured. A proud graduate of Ophelia S. Hill High School, she furthered her academic journey with an associate's degree from Gadsden State Community College. In 1971, Annie began her remarkable career at TCR Childcare Corporation HeadStart, where she devoted an inspiring 26 years of service to shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning. Her dedication and kindness left an indelible mark on countless students, many of whom carry forth her lessons and values to this day. Though humble and loving, Annie possessed a vibrant spirit and an appreciation for life's finer things. She had a firm love for her family and friends, combined with a nurturing kindness that endeared her to all. Annie found joy in simple pleasures - from cooking to the tranquility of fishing along the riverbanks to the exhilaration of a challenging word puzzle search and when time permitted, she loved visiting the sick. These memories will forever be a testament to her adventurous and loving nature. On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Mrs. Annie Terrell, answered her Master's call while in the care of Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama surrounded by her beloved family. Once ascending into the heavenly realm, she was reunited with her parents, William and Tellar Elston, brothers, Charles Elston, Johnny Elston, Michael Elston, Marcus, and Kenneth Elston, and sisters, Nell Elston, Linda Elston, and Bessie Ball. Her memory will forever remain a beacon of love and warmth for those she leaves behind. Annie leaves to cherish her fun-loving memories a devoted daughter, Pamela Borden; loving son, Clinton (Ronda) Terrell; grandchildren, Bethany Thomas, Christopher (Nadine) Henley, and Deanna Henley; great-grandchildren, Harley Reese and Andre Henley; two brothers, Lamar (Diane) Elston and David (Wanda) Elston; sister, Cynthia Richey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. As we reflect on her life, we remember Annie as a beacon of light and inspiration to all who knew her. Her warmth, compassion, and dedication to improving the lives of others weaves a beautiful tapestry of a life well-lived, one filled with purpose and profound impact. Annie Terrell will be dearly missed, but her legacy of compassion, education, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those she inspired.
