Homegoing Service Remembering the Life of Mrs. Althea Woods, 61, of Anniston, Alabama will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Goodson Funeral Home Chapel in Anniston with Pastor Antonio Forbes, Sr. Officiating. There will be a public viewing for Mrs. Woods on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 1-6 p.m. at Goodson Funeral Home/Anniston. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home-Talladega. Althea Woods entered this world on December 10, 1958, to the parentage of the late Billie Reginald Tillman, Sr. and Sarah Andrews Malott in Anniston, Alabama. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and attended church faithfully until her health began to fail. Althea was a 1978 graduate of Oxford High School and continued her education by attending Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon her return to Anniston, she took on a job at Advanced Check Express for a number of years. Before Althea’s health began to fail, she had over 8 years of dedicated service with Cheaha Mental Health as a Medical Aide. Along the path of Althea’s life’s journey, she met her soul mate, Gerry Woods, and on July 8, 1982, the two became one as they were gracefully united in Holy matrimony; and to this union was born a loving son, Darius Woods. Her love for people never allowed her to meet a stranger. If you knew Althea Woods, you know she always carried a very vibrant smile filled with love, energy, and enthusiasm. Not only did she love shopping, she had a passion for shoes and loved to dress. Althea will truly be missed by all the hearts she touched and joy she brought to everyone she encountered. On the evening of November 2, 2020, surrounded by loved ones, Althea’s life’s journey ended peacefully when she accepted her Master’s Call; and upon entering those pearly gates, Althea was welcomed home with outstretched arms by her father Billie Reginald Tillman, Sr. To cherish her loving memories she left behind a loving husband of 38 years, Gerry Woods; son, Darius Woods; mother, Sarah Malott; four brothers, Lawrence (Ann) Mull, Billie Tillman, Jr., Gerald Tillman, Marcus (Michelle) Tillman; two sisters, Ceretha (Ricky) Allen, Deneise (Kenneth) Cunningham; grandchildren: Shaliyah "Yari" Solomon and Tristan Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day...and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8
